Job description
The Vice President, Member Business Services (“MBS”) leads WPCU’s member business services business unit for the acquisition of commercial loans and deposits. This position is responsible for all commercial loans, commercial loan recovery and deposit accounts for commercial members. The duties performed by this position also include responsibility for partner employees who work in these functional areas.
- Directs WPCU’s member business services and MRB programs, including developing strategies, tactics, and plans, and achieves overall performance, service, and profitability targets as established by senior management.
- Oversees implementation of robust and growing member business deposit and loan programs (including ancillary member business services such as business home banking, etc.), including product development, service delivery, operating practices and procedures, loan asset quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure assigned business units are operating efficiently and reliably, are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and rules, have appropriate operating controls to mitigate risk, and are performing at a high level.
- Ensures member business services maintains a strong market reputation, extends the reach of WPCU’s brand, produces a solid financial return for the cooperative and effectively serves community-based, member-owned small businesses.
- Identifies and oversees the management and integration of third-party partners to provide a strong service delivery to small business owners and ensures vendor contractual commitments are met.
- Recruits, supervises, coaches, and regularly reviews the performance of Partners working in Member Business Services.
Required Skills
The Vice President, Member Business Services must possess substantial experience and competence in a wide variety of areas which may affect a financial services organization of greater than $7 billion in assets. The following are also required:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field is required (Masters preferred). Candidates with non-business degrees may qualify with considerable experience in the primary areas of responsibility.
- At least five years’ experience in executive leadership is required and it is helpful if this experience is in retail financial services, including experience managing and leading high-level supervisors.
- At least seven years’ experience in commercial financial services.
- Entrepreneurial talent to create, develop and execute on product development, relationship building, and other opportunities is required.
- Outstanding communication skills, including written, verbal and listening skills are required.
- Ability to work collaboratively with key internal and external leaders with emphasis on influencing.
