The VP of Global Sales, Varian Interventional Solutions (VIS) is responsible for setting the global vision, strategy, and direction for the Varian IS sales team.
Job Description
- Define, lead, and develop the global enterprise sales strategy to drive profitable revenue growth for the VIS Business Area
- Lead the global sales team in driving the objectives and execution of the sales plan to grow VIS presence in the market in achieving business targets
- Leverage our current sales team while also expanding and growing the team as part of our sales segmentation strategy. Manage a team of regional sales directors globally. Foster a successful and positive team environment with a focus on development and growth.
- Define sales processes that drive desired sales outcomes and identify improvements where and when required. Put in place infrastructure and systems to support the success of the sales function.
- Manage senior level customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities when needed.
- Play a critical role in business planning, working closely with other senior executives to develop plans, resource requirements, and influence our long-term business strategy.
- Work cross-functionally with sales leaders, marketing, and product teams to develop go-to-market strategies and execution. Lead ongoing analysis of business performance to support daily operations and quarterly business reviews
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads Sales management team in development of sales strategies that support the business plan
- Ensures that sales management team and internal management are up to date on industry, competitor and product knowledge and changes.
- Maintains awareness of broad industry trends and their impact on the overall business objective.
- Makes decisions and provides direction to sales support/marketing staff members in activities that support sales promotion, product launches, clinical trials, sales training etc.
- Functions as a member of the VIS leadership team in developing and monitoring product development strategies, forecasts, and schedules for new product introduction.
- Partners with Sales, Operations, RA/QA and other associated departments to achieve budgeted revenue and gross margin for the specified disease state’s business, while operating within Company policies/process and assigned expense budgets.
- In conjunction with Marketing teams and Sales Management, creates deliverables and programs to maximize attainment of budgeted objectives, as well as the tools to measure sales force performances against those objectives.
- Provides insight into appropriate distribution channels required to maximize revenue attainment.
- Partners closely with other senior functional executives (e.g. Marketing, Sales, Operations, RA, Quality, HR, Finance, etc.) to form a strong, mutually supportive and effective business team.
- Directs resource allocation and identifies requirements to ensure organizational goals and objectives are met.
- Provides a productive and motivating work environment within the organization. Provides strong leadership, mentoring, coaching and development to direct reports.
- Ensures education and training programs meet employee development needs and customer needs to enhance knowledge of the products and grow the business.
- Recommends budget requirements for the department and takes action to guarantee effective business performance within approved operating budget guidelines.
- As a member of the executive leadership team, provides staff support (e.g., acquisition due diligence, technical evaluation, recruiting of other senior division staff, etc.).
- Responsible for defining, developing, and maintaining KOL relationships. Also maintains relations with customers by organizing and developing specific customer relations programs; contributing to VIS presence at conventions, annual meetings, trade associations, and seminars.
Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent. Masters Degree preferred.
- 20 plus years of related experience. 10 years people leadership experience.
- Ability, competence, and confidence to lead people.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Obtains and completes LMS training plan specific to assigned responsibility.
- Meets all Vendor Credentialing requirements necessary to gain VMS client site access, unless prohibited by law. These requirements vary by client and may include, but are not limited to:
- Proof of valid identification (photo, driver’s license, SSN)
- Criminal background checks
- Drug screens
- Immunizations (Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Influenza, Tetanus)
- Annual TB testing
- Healthcare trainings
