The Vice President of North America Cafe Operations will be primarily responsible for the management of all 3,000 mployees in the Hard Rock North America Cafe Operations Division. These employees, in turn, oversee Hard Rock Cafe operations throughout North America.
The Vice President will hold ultimate discretionary decision-making authority over the entire Hard Rock Cafe operations team of employees, the full North America Cafe operations function, and the strategic growth of Hard Rock operations. In the leadership role of Vice President of Company Cafe Operations, will manage multi-level teams of professional employees. His duties will be primarily managerial – numerous other employees on his staff implement the daily tasks of this department, relieving the Vice President from administrative and daily operational duties:
Responsibilities:
- EXISTING CAFE OPERATIONS - Manage multi-level teams of employees in the direction of existing cafe operations in the North America region. Establish strategic goals and policies for existing cafe partners within designated regions. Institute and direct strategy implementation to meet Cafe operational and brand standards
- Direct meetings with Area Vice Presidents, Directors, and Area Managers
- Review daily/weekly top line results achieved by subordinate teams for comparison with target analysis, and lead teams in weekly development action plans.
- Review team reports on guest satisfaction results compared to target analysis, and lead teams in development of action plans to be carried out by subordinates.
- Final discretionary decision-making with respect to hiring selection of new team members, interviews, final approval procedures on key subordinate positions, promotions, and terminations.
- Review annual operating plans to evaluate progress with team leaders.
- Conduct team and individual meetings for each Area VP and all team members to set goals and targets for teams, hold weekly, month to date, and year to date goal review, review results of specific team projects, and manage public relations matters with respect to regional operations.
- Review forecasts prepared by subordinates for end of the year review.
- Conduct bi-annual evaluation of Area Vice Presidents and team members.
- Participate in Executive meetings with Hard Rock Senior Vice President and all Cafe Executives.
- Review weekly EBIDTA profitability results prepared by area teams on target analysis, comparisons, and action plans to be implemented by subordinates.
- Prepare reports on Cafe department operations, and participate in regular Executive team meetings with Hard Rock Senior Vice President and all Cafe Executive team members.
- Regulatory Compliance
- Coordinate Legal Department and local counsel regarding Cafe regulatory matters.
- Direct management of Trademark infringement matters, related to Cafe operations.
- Direct employees in the continuous monitoring of Cafe operational/brand standards and expectations.
- Oversee Cafe partners default processes and Cafe agreement terminations.
- Direct de-branding processes
- Oversee Cafe compliance, alignment with internal/external strategic plans and procedures, and company adherence to industry regulations.
NEW CAFE OPERATIONS - Manage multi-level teams of employees in development of new Cafe opportunities in line with approved strategic Hard Rock corporate plans. Institute and direct strategy to meet Cafe operational and brand standards- Final approval for Cafe site selections developed by subordinate teams of employees.
- Review and direct approvals for letters of intent, Cafe agreements, area development agreements, and disclosure documents prepared by Cafe teams.
- Conduct project advancement reviews with Area Vice Presidents, Directors of Operations, and Cafe partners.
- Review and approve key corporate designs developed by subordinates.
- Review and approve selection of Hard Rock business partners for Cafe operations.
- Review and approve calendar adjustments for major project completion.
- Travel to oversee teams and project implementation throughout the year – average 3 trips a month.
- Conduct senior level interviews and authorize final approval procedures on hiring for key subordinate positions, promotions, and terminations.
- Senior authority for new Cafe opportunity approval, Cafe compliance with approved internal/external strategic plans and procedures, and company adherence to industry regulations.
- FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY – Oversee revenue and profit for Cafe operations department budget. Serve as senior liaison with Hard Rock Finance Department to ensure full compliance with Cafe fee structure and accurate reporting.
- Oversee development and prioritization of operational policies, and establishment of quality metrics and key performance indicators.
- Approve monthly P&L reviews prepared by teams of employees.
- Oversee, develop and manage budgets and forecasts to drive EBITDA profitability margins.

- Oversight and review of monthly narratives prepared by subordinate employees.
- Review all significant department expenses submitted by Area VPs, Directors and process approvals.
- GUEST SATISFACTION REPORTING MANAGEMENT - Manage reporting process to ensure guest satisfaction scores meet Hard Rock standards.
- Review SMG online results prepared by Directors and subordinate team members.
- Conduct web calls with Area Vice Presidents regarding regional compliance with guest satisfaction processes.
- Weekly team calls, liaison between the Hard Rock Support Center and worldwide Cafe community.
- BRAND STANDARD MANAGEMENT - Best Practice Evaluation reviews of all regional teams, approval of action plans and strategy requirements.
- ATTEND CAFE ADVISORY BOARD BI-ANNUAL MEETINGS
- Review annual corporate employee surveys prepared by regional Cafe teams.
- Direct development of annual Cafe employee survey.
- ATTEND EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONS – represent North America Cafe Division; establish regional goals, strategies to ensure Hard Rock professional image is exhibited to employees, guests, clients, owners, investors.
- LEAD, DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITHIN THE BUSINESS AND SOCIAL COMMUNITY, SPEARHEAD PHILANTHROPIC ACTIVITIES
- MANAGE EMPLOYEES’ CONDUCT TO FOSTER HIGH MORALE AND ENSURE LOW TURNOVER WHILE OPERATING ETHICALLY TO PROTECT THE HARD ROCK IMAGE
- Attend annual team meetings at Hard Rock headquarters.
- Weekly team calls with all Area Vice Presidents to clarify compliance of employee morale goals.
- 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry (retail, food & beverage and service).
- Multi-unit Restaurant operating capabilities/knowledge.
- Professional experience working with funding institutions.
- High level of business acumen.
- Franchise and/or Brand Development ability.
- Strong interpersonal skills that market the strength of the brand.
- Ability to travel extensively.
- Ability to communicate in several other languages.
- Entrepreneurship skills and mentorship.
- College degree required.
- Background an environment that utilizes corporate and franchise relationship influencing.
