Veterinary Technician

Switzerland Animal Hospital is seeking full-time and part-time Veterinary Technicians with veterinary medical experience. We are looking for an individual who has the knowledge and skills to assist the veterinarian with technical, handling and administrative work.

Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to the following):

• Efficiently prepare supplies and exam rooms for appointments
• Accurately record patient history
• Use of appropriate animal-handling methods during procedures and exams
• Efficiently, safely and accurately collect, prepare and analyze laboratory samples
• Record and document medical findings in patient records
• General cleaning and disinfecting, including appropriate maintenance and cleaning of medical equipment
• Radiology machine set-up and patient positioning
• Administer treatments and medications under the direction of the Veterinarian
• Calculate medication doses, rates and strengths
• Administer and monitor anesthesia
• Assist in surgery, including knowledge of aseptic techniques
• Intubating and extubating patients
• Set-up and monitor ECG, BP and pulse ox
• Surgery preparation
• Perform dental scaling and dental radiographs under veterinarian supervision
• Effectively discharge patients, communicating the veterinarian’s orders

Requirements:

• Experience working as a skilled technician
• Positive and enthusiastic work-ethic in a team environment
• Compassionate interactions with patients and clients
• Ability to remain calm in high emotion and stressful situations
• Proficiency in attention to detail and accuracy
• Basic computer skills
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Veterinary and animal handling experience

Preferences:

• LVT or CVT (not required)

Salary:

• Range of $15-$25 per hour based on experience
• Part-time and full-time available

Schedule:

• Day
• Primarily weekday shifts
• Half-day Saturday shift (occasional)

Transportation:

• Reliable transportation and /or ability to relocate prior to hiring
• One location; Jacksonville/St. Johns Florida, 32259

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
