General Purpose

Performs routine clerical, administrative, and data processing work in the billing of utility and other public services.

Supervision Received

Works under the general supervision of the City Clerk.

Supervision Exercised

None generally.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Update customer account information, adjustments, read in/outs, etc., Service Deposit Applications
  • Importing and exporting readings using the Sensus program and Power Manager software. Assure that readings are correct.
  • Print bills and prepare for mailing.
  • Assist with accounts receivable job duties.
  • Prepare and enter all service orders and read in/outs.
  • Assures utility rates are current.
  • Maintain office equipment.
  • Receives telephone calls and manage customer complaints/questions.
  • Provide new customers with applications, forms, etc.
  • Generate service orders for new/old customers and repairs
  • Update Service Change Requests
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Peripheral Duties

  • Serves as a member of various employee committees.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with a specialized course work in general office practices such as typing, accounting, data processing.
  • Working knowledge of computers and electronic data processing; working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures
  • Skill in operation listed tools and equipment
  • Ability to perform arithmetic computations accurately and quickly; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish successful working relationships; ability to work under pressure and/or frequent interruptions; ability to work with angry or difficult customers.

Special Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be insurable under the City of Kimball Automobile Policy

Tools and Equipment Used

  • Typewriter, personal computer, central billing system terminal, central financial computer, 10-key calculator, phone, base radio, fax and copy machines.
