Unit Secretary Part Time (16-18 hours per week)
Job description
Ark Healthcare and Rehabiliation at St. Camillus, one of Fairfield County's premier leaders in Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation care, is seeking a qualified Unit Secretary to join our team of healthcare professionals.
This is a Part-Time, 16-18 hours position, that will be scheduled on our 7AM-3PM shift.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Greeting patients
- Scheduling appointments, procedures, and transportation for patients
- Faxing medical records to other medical providers.
- Reviewing a patient's insurance information so that they can determine which procedures and transportation their insurance will cover and the incurred costs.
- Updating and organizing patient files and charts
- Speaking with patients to remind them of their upcoming appointments
- Routing calls to the appropriate parties
- Managing and maintaining the nursing station equipment and inventory
Job Skills:
1. Able to positively interact with nursing staff, customers, family members, visitors, government agencies and the general public.
2. Able to prioritize work responsibilities and perform tasks with minimal supervision.
3. Demonstrate reliability, commitment and dedication to staff and customers. Understand importance of center readiness to meet customer/nursing needs.
4. Demonstrate initiative to ensuring business objectives are met.
5. Excellent organizational skills from detailed recordkeeping to management of multiple storage areas.
6. Responsive to last minute request to meet unexpected customer need.
- Previous Experience in Long Term Care or Hospital preferred, but not required.
