Integral to the customer service model of Trench Shoring Company is our elite team of Class A drivers. Our Class A drivers do more than just deliver products; they are skilled operators, with extensive crane operation experience, and product knowledge. They deliver shoring equipment in some of the most technically difficult and challenging environments while providing top-notch customer service that is representative of the Trench Shoring model/culture/company.
A Class A Driver I is primarily responsible for driving a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a capacity of at least 80,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). The employee is required to become Crane Certified within 6 months of hire. This role is customer facing, and requires a strong ability to communicate with customers, project leads on job sites, and the operations and sales team in the branch.
Basic Duties and Responsibilities:
· Must be able to read, understand, and follow a drivers log making sure the customer paperwork is signed, and the correct equipment is delivered or retrieved. Able to identify equipment in rental yard based on driver log, and ensure all pieces required for delivery are included.
· Performs a pre-trip safety inspection every morning ensuring assigned tractor-trailer meets all safety requirement.
· Works with dispatch team to coordinate delivery schedules and use the most time efficient routes.
· Assists operators with loading and unloading equipment onto the tractor trailer bed. Utilizes rigging techniques and crane to safely load the equipment.
· Partners with an assigned Equipment Technician to safely deliver and retrieve equipment. Identifies hazards in regards to a job-site, or delivery route and works together to find solutions safely. Maintains constant communication with branch to provide updates on route, and delivery status.
· Develops knowledge of Trench Shoring Company core product lines, and answer customer questions regarding products, and equipment. Able to identify products requested on driver log including miscellaneous pieces, and accessories.
· Utilizes Kaizala to take pictures of equipment upon delivery and pick-up. Notate damages on paperwork, and communicate to branch.
· Follow policies and procedures to ensure the job is done properly.
· Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
· Local travel only - drivers will be home most every night.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
· Certificates, licenses and registrations required:
o Must possess a valid and clean commercial Class A Driver's License issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
o Crane certification preferred, however if candidate is not certified at the time of employment, company will train for crane certified operations.
· Other skills required:
o Must have a minimum of 1-3 years' experience driving a flatbed truck & trailer combination.
o Must be familiar with semi-trailers and full trailers, air brake systems and be able to operate a thirteen-speed transmission.
o Mechanically inclined, be familiar with hydraulic equipment and have a construction background.
o Must have knowledge of local major and minor roadways and have the ability to effectively use maps and directions for efficient delivery.
o Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
o Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve practical problems.
o Computer knowledge is desired.

Pay: $22.34 - $33.51 per hour
