The Oak Ridge National Laboratory has an opening for a Truck Driver. In this role, under limited supervision, you will be responsible for operating different vehicles on the ORNL campus and off-site locations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Drive and operate vehicles to move various materials from one location to another
• Drive automobiles, vans, or buses to transport passengers
• Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures
• Follow appropriate safety procedures for operating vehicles and transporting materials
• Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order
• Move levers or controls that operate lifting devices to load, unload, and transport materials
• Inspect the load to ensure it is properly loaded and secured
• Coordinate with necessary parties to ensure prompt and complete deliveries
• Communicate with passengers and other relevant individuals to ensure scheduled agendas are met, and passengers are transported in a timely manner
• Maintain recordkeeping documents and electronic files
• Other tasks as assigned by management

Basic (or Required) Qualifications:

• A high school diploma or equivalent, with five years of verifiable relevant experience.
• The position requires a Class A Commercial Driver’s License and the ability to obtain and maintain hazmat, tanker, and passenger endorsements. Completion of FMCR training and an ORNL Medical DOT card is also required.
• Ability to work varying shifts.
• This position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug and alcohol testing program.
• A pre-hire physical will be required.

• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
• Ability to comply with Federal Motor Carrier Regulations.
• Ability to communicate with others and display a good-natured, cooperative attitude.
• Ability to be reliable, responsible, and dependable in fulfilling obligations.
• Ability to give attention to detail and thoroughly complete work tasks.
