Develop and drive implementation of transportation strategies focused on meeting existing customer demand and target-market opportunities in a safe and efficient manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Negotiates competitive transportation costs through day-to-day relationships and performance management of common carrier partners
- Define and track KPIs for carrier performance (on-time delivery, quality, acceptance, etc) and monitor performance against these metrics working with vendors to identify root cause and corrective action for delivery failures when they arise
- Supports Sales and Dispatch by negotiating and soliciting rates for new lanes and coordinating the increase of capacity by vendors in support of new or expanded business opportunities for Commercial, GA, and Government lines of business
- Identifies innovative solutions for EPIC that result in a stronger, more reliable supply chain and executes the implementation of these solutions through cross departmental coordination and collaboration.
- Seeks additional carrier partners to strengthen EPIC’s operation while identifying opportunities to grow existing carrier networks
- Utilizes metrics to drive continuous improvement with respect to transportation costs, demurrage and other accessorial expenses and carrier performance. Supports negotiations through data mining and analysis.
- Active participant in the established RFP process working to strike a functional balance between operational efficiency and industry leading cost performance while connecting preferred supply points with awarded carriers
- Ensures that the company always has adequate carrier resources available in existing and target markets while proactively monitoring trends in performance and capacity
- Oversees the accurate and timely processing, monitoring, and reporting of common carrier transportation transactions
- Owns the EPIC online driver training program and driver completion compliance
- Coordinates the onboarding of new carriers working with all internal stakeholders to ensure complete setup and compliance prior to operations commencing
- Identifies and implements technological solutions to solve communication and document issues that help streamline processing and reporting
- Initiates and completes terminal and loading number setups as needed. Coordinates with all internal and external stakeholders as required for terminal additions, deletions, and changes.
- Works with Fuel Logistics Department to understand carrier dispatch availability and improve customer facing processes
- Maintains and evolves Transportation Services Contracts and compliance
- Maintain certificates of insurance for all common carriers to ensure compliance with contractual obligations
- Drive technological innovation in the fuel-transportation space, including but not limited to, real-time tracking of loads, electronic BOLs and invoice, etc. Position EPIC Fuels as a leader in this space, deriving competitive advantage for EPIC in the eyes of both carrier and customers
- Travel and attend off-site training and industry relevant trade shows as required
Financial Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing contractual obligations of third-party vendors providing support to A/P department for timely payment and resolution of rate disputes along with coordination with Sales and A/R for rate change capture in compliance with customer fuel purchase agreements.

Minimum Experience and Education (including degrees, certificates, licenses, registrations):
- Bachelor’s Degree desirable in Supply Chain and/or Logistics
- 3-5 years of relevant experience working with trucking and logistics specifically common carriers
Additional Knowledge and Skills:
- Current understanding of laws, regulations, and rules related to lifting, hauling, and delivery of refined products by road transport vehicle
- Reviews and analyzes expenditures and other financial information; uses results to develop and implement plans, policies, and budgets
- Knowledgeable of DOT Compliance and Safety Standards
- Strong logistical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Experience with multi-state logistics
- Tanker industry experience and bulk transportation preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
