As an Associate/Senior Associate in our Trade Advisory Services team, you will be an integral part of our rapidly expanding practice focused on supporting corporate clients with their customs, tariffs and international trade planning and compliance activities and operations. You will work on varied and interesting projects with U.S. and international companies, helping them to understand and navigate through increasingly complex national and global trade requirements, challenges and opportunities.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and provide advice to clients across a variety of industries on customs and international trade compliance and cost-savings opportunities
  • Analyze import, export, financial and supply-chain detain support of global trade projects, including compliance and risk reviews, duty savings assessments and global trade management (GTM) system implementations
  • Contribute to the firm’s provision of advice to clients on U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Department of Commerce and other participating government agency (PGA) regulations and requirements for import, entry and export transactions
  • Effectively manage high volumes of data to review, prepare and assist in the filing of prior disclosures, duty drawback claims and post-summary corrections/reconciliations
  • Support clients in the development, refinement and implementation of processes, procedures and internal controls to drive enhanced customs and trade compliance
  • Support audits, reviews and client representation before global customs and trade authorities around the world
  • Possess and consistently demonstrate strong organizational skills, high motivation and a positive attitude
  • Efficiently manage time and budgets through effective project planning and management
  • Work well both with others and independently to deliver high-quality work products

Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with a business, economics or international relations concentration from an accredited college or university
  • Requires a minimum of three years of import/export experience as a customs consultant, attorney, broker and/or U.S. Customs auditor/import specialist
  • Requires familiarity and experience with customs valuation, duty drawback, harmonized system classification, origin, marking, entry, Incoterms, trade agreements, foreign trade zones, bonded operations, etc.
  • Demonstrated interest in international trade or international business
  • Strong research, writing, verbal communication, quantitative and project management skills
  • Data management and analysis experience
  • Familiarity with global trade management software as well as aptitude in Access, Excel and/or Visio
  • Requires ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 40% (subject to COVID-19 restrictions)
  • Ability to work effectively on a team
  • Ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment

Preferred:

  • Prior Big 4 professional services firm or customs/trade/supply chain experience in an international enterprise
    Advanced degree such as Masters, JD or LLM
  • Foreign language skills
  • Experience with SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics 365 and other enterprise resource planning systems
  • Licensed U.S. Customs Broker, Certified U.S. Import Compliance Officer (CUSECO) or other certification or licensure is required for promotion
