Danfoss, a global leader in AC Motor Drives, has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Test Development Engineer to join the Danfoss Drives Medium Voltage Research and Development team in the Research Triangle Park, NC.

As a member of a cross-functional product development team, the Test Development Engineer is responsible for creating test plans, test strategies, and the design and development of verification tests. Additional responsibilities include researching and recommending new test processes, technology, and tools for testing of future products.

Job Responsibilities

• Printed circuit board test fixture design and support (Functional Board Testing)
• Test setup creation including instrumentation and electrical/mechanical assemblies
• LabVIEW programming, operation and troubleshooting
• Printed circuit design and layout
• Root cause analysis of circuit boards and power electronic components/systems
• PCBA troubleshooting and repair including soldering
• Basic electrical wiring changes, electrical test fixture creation
• PLC programming and operation (seen as beneficial)
• Python programming knowledge (seen as beneficial)
• Compiling and organizing technical data and prepare reports on project assignments
• Organization and management of laboratory instrumentation and work areas
• Occasional travel to testing facilities and to assist with test setups

Background & Skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (or Associates with equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering with outstanding and demonstrated ability
• 1-3 years’ experience in product development or test lab environment is required
• Proficiency in using test equipment, e.g. oscilloscopes, function generators, DC power supplies & data acquisition systems
• Proficient electrical and electronics knowledge
• Experienced in analog and digital circuits
• Familiar with Hardware in the loop systems
• LabVIEW programming and troubleshooting experience is a must
• Understanding of electrical and electronic diagrams, one-lines and schematics
• Familiarity with AC drives and power electronics (IGBT's, diodes, Mosfets), medium voltage knowledge is an asset
• Must be able to function well in a team or group environment.
• Knowledge on electrical safety standards e.g. NFPA 70E,
• Knowledge of MS office tools, e.g. Outlook, Excel and Word
