(This position is a 6 months temporary assignment without UHS Benefits)
- Must be flexible to work day and night shift as needed, minimum of 3 shifts per week.

BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for delivering nursing care to children and adolescents from the ages of 5-18 years of age and adults age 18-65+ that is congruent with the philosophy and standards of practice defined by the Nursing Department. Provides for the continuity of care of assigned patients and uses the nursing process and a holistic conceptual framework in the development of nursing care plans that address self-care limitations in behavior and interpersonal functioning. Directs and guides activities of paraprofessional staff in the implementation of nursing care plans. Internally, the incumbent will interface with hospital management, staff, and patients. Externally, the incumbent will interface with licensing and accrediting agencies, family members, and healthcare treatment agencies.

Qualifications
- Current license to practice nursing in District of Columbia (or eligible to receive or renew)
- Minimum requirements are one (4) year of psychiatric nursing experience.
- Previous psychiatric, behavioral, or mental health nursing experience is helpful but not required
- Current CPR or BLS certification.
- ANA Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing certification preferred
- Variable schedule (when necessary schedule will change every 2 weeks to meet hospital needs)
- Cover house supervision when necessary
- Rotating every other weekend
