Duties and Responsibilities:
Under minimal supervision, performs the following duties and responsibilities:
· Support Delta Electronics Telecom Services with onsite installation services ranging from Removal of DC Power Systems/Batteries, Installation of DC Power Systems/Batteries, performing annual or bi-annual preventative maintenance at telecom sites.
· Has proficient knowledge of DC Power concepts and performs -48 DC power work on live systems, without the need of supervision.
· Perform Site Surveys, or Site Walks at customer locations for Engineering purposes.
· Provide on-site customer training for Eltek products.
· Provide phone back-up support for Technical Support Team.
· Create MOP’s and technical reference materials.
· Support/back-up Technical Support team with product knowledge and training with Telecom Industry standards.
· Analyze data for trends, deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
· Other field duties as assigned.
Minimum Education, Skills and Experience:
· Associate degree (or equivalent) in Electronics or related discipline is required.
· Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Engineering or related discipline is desired.
· Three to five years’ experience of customer technical support of DC power systems, preferred.
· Two to four years’ experience as a Level 4 or Lead Installer required.
· Demonstrated customer technical support ability to identify and resolve issues.
· Proficiency with computer software including MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word) and SAP systems.
· Knowledge and troubleshooting experience to safely work on battery backed power systems.
· Professional verbal and written communication skills.
· Reliable, organized, cooperative and flexible.
· IT network troubleshooting skills a plus.
Organization:
Field Service Engineer reports to Manager, Telecom Services.
Authorities:
Position has limited authority to purchase necessary materials for field service jobs.
Job Focus Description:
The Field Services/Support focus specializes in providing on-site installation services, customer support, performing diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of Telecom Power Systems and batteries. Performs feasibility and approves operational quality of system equipment. Provides customers with assistance with the operation and maintenance of the system.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires long periods of sitting behind a desk, telephone work and performing tasks on a computer. Additional physical requirements include standing, bending, hand dexterity, and light lifting of up to 50 lbs. Position requires travel on a domestic or international basis to meet customer needs. Must be willing travel up to 90%.
