POSITION TITLE: Technology Specialist IIDEPARTMENT: Information TechnologyREPORTS TO: Technology DirectorCLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt (Hourly)TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Support Staff HandbookPURPOSE: This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all technology-related systems and equipment. This position will work on various projects as assigned. Individuals in this position are expected to perform at a high degree of independence and may provide instructions or assistance to entry level technicians.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Support PCs, PC operating systems, and manage network accountsProvides on-site, remote and phone support to multiple schoolsProvides various trainings for staff and students on software and hardwareAssists the Technology Director with technology purchasing and planningPerforms hardware and software evaluationsSupports and trains entry level Technology SpecialistsInstalls, updates, and supports a wide variety of softwareMaintains district inventory databaseManages setup, configuration, and deployment of iPadsReviews and recommends technical purchasesInstalls and manages IP phones and phone systemSupports CHS audio and camera systemWorks on a variety of IT projectsResearch and evaluates new technologies and remains current with technology trendsExhibits commitment to the districts vision planPerforms other tasks and duties as assigned by the Technology DirectorDESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, in addition to the following: Bachelors degree in Computer Science; or three years of equivalent training and work experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquiredValid VT Operators License and transportationREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge and experience with the use, repair and maintenance of computer hardware, software and peripherals relevant to applications used in educationKnowledge of iPads and mobile device managementBasic understanding of networking (LAN/WAN), connectivity, topology and protocolsExcellent oral communication, written communication, and time management skillsExcellent analytical/problem solving skillsAbility to plan, coordinate, and prioritize work assignmentsFamiliarity with Windows, Google Environment, and Microsoft OfficeGood teamwork skills and ability to be a team leaderExcellent organization skills with the ability to work on multiple projects and/or assignment simultaneouslyAbility to work with a minimum of supervision, be self-motivated, resourceful, and exhibit flexibilityAbility to read, analyze and interpret technical documentation The desire to make a difference through positive attitude and enthusiasm for the jobPHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Must be able to move equipment/objects weighing up to 30 pounds (computers, monitors, etc.) Must be able to move around the office and school locationsAbility to work in a highly stressful environment that requires one to make quick decisions and handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyWORKING CONDITIONS: Work is normally performed in a climate-controlled, shared office environment with potential exposure to airborne particles (dust & dirt).
