This Role

Our Level One Tech Support is the go-to person for Field Technicians. A Field Tech reaches out to our Tech Support team to check-in to the site, we clarify the scope of work, help troubleshoot if the Field Tech is stuck, and enter notes in our ticketing system along the way. We need someone who is naturally comfortable on the phone, loves to troubleshoot technical issues, and is a detailed note-taker. All our roles require excellent customer service.

Technology we troubleshoot: networks/wifi/switches/routers/network racks/ports/cables/cat5/cat6/structured cabling/LAN/WAN/raspberry pi/audio players/amps/digital signage/point of sale systems/cash registers/receipt printers/iOS devices/VoIP systems/PBX/key systems/SIP trunking/and more!

Must-Haves

  • Excellent customer service; a real commitment to serving the customer (+technician)
  • Strong desire to help, with a knack for problem solving
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Team player and sharer of knowledge
  • Great communicator: both verbal and written
  • Attention to detail (in verifying work and note-taking)
  • Basic knowledge in telecom/network services (phones, printers, point of sale, etc)
  • Willingness and ability to learn all kinds of technology

Bonus Points

  • Experience with telecom/data
  • Field experience with commercial structured cabling
  • BICSI/Comptia or other industry certification (eg A+ and/or Network+)
  • Two+ years of customer service experience
  • Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in related field

Location, location, location
Our Wood Dale, Illinois office boasts a friendly workplace with spacious cubicles, breakout meeting rooms and a 24,000 square foot warehouse. CPT headquarters is conveniently located off the express way, and is just 15 minutes from O’Hare International Airport and Rosemont shopping center. This is an in-office position.

Schedule

We cover customer needs around the clock. Our day shift runs weekdays between 8am and 8pm Central. Various shifts are available, with staggered starts depending on department needs (current availability is 10am-7pm Central or 11am-8pm Central). Our mandatory on-call rotation (typically two-to-four times per year) provides additional night support and weekend coverage. We offer a stipend for this rotation. This position is primarily in-office, currently working Monday-Thursday in our Wood Dale office and Fridays working from home.
