Perkins & Co’s Portland, OR, and Vancouver, WA, offices are open without restrictions. We are hiring nationwide, with more than 1/4 of our workforce being fully remote from outside the Portland and Vancouver metro areas. Most of our local team has autonomy to decide whether to work on-site, remotely, or hybrid. Interviews will be held virtually in most cases.

The work location for this role is flexible; we are open to a fully remote arrangement for candidates who are located in the United States. Candidates interested in relocating to the Portland area may be eligible for moving assistance. We are not sponsoring visas or hiring internationally.

Perkins has always been a different kind of accounting firm, and one of the things that we do better than others is facilitating long-term career success. We do that in several ways, one of them being reasonable hours expectations. Full-time Seniors are expected to work 2200 - 2250 total hours/1550 - 1650 billable hours annually (expectations vary per level of experience). This means the busy season target is 45 - 50 hours/week with generally no expectation to work weekends. Teams are niche-focused so you'll develop expertise while working alongside others focused on similar work.

Of course, there’s also competitive pay, benefits, and perks (including remote work). Generally, the salary range for Tax Senior is $80K - $96K annually. The recruiting team will be happy to discuss salary during your initial conversation, including variables such level of experience, any desire for reduced hours, bonuses, benefits, etc. Compensation may be adjusted for those who live in areas with a higher cost of labor than Portland, OR.

What's expected of a Tax Senior?

• Client Management - Depending which team you're on, complete complex partnership (real estate) or corporation and pass-through entity returns as well as various sized family-owned or privately held entity tax returns; develop a strong understanding of the client’s business and industry; manage competing priority deliverables and communicate accordingly to deliver excellent client service
• Engagement Management - Communicate both internally and externally to manage expectations and keep the engagement progressing; develop and motivate engagement staff by providing technical assistance as needed; foster teamwork and innovation to enhance the client service experience
• Professional Development - Demonstrate technical curiosity that allows for professional and personal growth; ask questions that will further your understanding of the client and the return; multitask and communicate accordingly with in-charges

Who qualifies?

• 3+ years of experience in public accounting, preferably in a large local/regional firm
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is required and must be CPA exam eligible
• Experience in a paperless environment
• Experience serving high net worth clients, real estate/construction clients or corporate/multi-state clients
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Proficient with use of office technology and software (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)
• High level of integrity and trustworthiness
• Proven ability to give and receive both positive and constructive feedback
• Strong problem solving and organizational skills
• CPA license preferred
