Position Focus:

The Financial Systems and Solutions department provides strategic system advice, day to day system support and on-the-ground support for business process improvement and optimization initiatives. The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for understanding the Workday platform. This position performs thorough technical evaluations, makes well-informed recommendations based on subject matter expertise, and executes the configuration of the system based on functional requirements. Activities include, but are not limited to, maintaining business processes and configuration, reassigning tasks, maintaining, and assigning security role / access, scheduling integrations, troubleshooting production issues, help gather requirements, etc. This position partners with other Finance/IT units to test configuration changes and garner sign off, lends support to the internal reporting team as it relates to Workday reporting and is relied upon to gather technical artifacts from the Workday Community site. This position will report into the Associate Director, General Accounting Systems.

THIS POSITION IS LARGELY REMOTE

Essential Duties

1. Works effectively with the process owners to document the scope, requirements, objectives and performance targets. 2. Elicits and writes requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language simply, clearly, unambiguously, and concisely. 3. Decomposes business and user requirements into functional requirements. Defines quality attributes, external interfaces, constraints, and other nonfunctional requirements. 4. Represents requirements using alternative views, such as analysis models (diagrams), prototypes, or scenarios. 5. Compares functional specifications to functionality in commercial off-the-shelf software to identify appropriate matches 6. Actively contributes in the testing and quality assurance process. Collaborates with developers and end-users to insure that application functionality meets client needs. 7. Contributes in requirements prioritization and solution risk analysis 8. Contributes to the communication planning/delivery and departmental readiness plan. Supports metrics integration and execution for optimal results. 9. Contributes to the development and delivery of training to end users. 10. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business, technology or related field. Two years of related experience in analysis of business needs and development of related business systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders. Ability to work in diverse, cross-functional teams with limited guidance.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Examples of actively led multiple end to end ERP projects (Workday preferred) and additional relevant experience in embracing and implementing solutions for operational improvements and automation.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Well-developed communication, interpersonal, and presentation abilities with the ability to navigate and develop effective working relationships.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Ability to work in diverse, cross-functional teams with limited guidance.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Exceptional organizational skills, with advanced ability to manage multiple tasks and concurrent priorities. Highly flexible and adaptable to change.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Proven experience implementing and managing large-scale Workday systems for large, diverse and distributed stakeholder groups in Higher Education.
