We are looking for a Systems Administrator (SA). This position provides advanced level technical and administrative support for a variety of software applications and hosted IT technology, and the local area network (LAN). The SA is responsible for supporting and advising the department manager on projects, enhancements, problem-solving, training staff, and monitoring/reporting on department activities. This position will also play a significant part in managing network, server, workstation, and third-party security risks.
Location: This position will be HYBRID out of the Syracuse office: 100 Madison Street, Syracuse, New York, 13202.
The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $70,000 to $100,000. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
What you will do:
- Supports the department manager:
- Proposing recommendations for technology enhancements or efficiencies
- Developing sound analysis to support recommendations
- Handling complex problem-resolution
- Implementing and leading projects
- Training other staff as needed
- Contributing to feedback on the work performance of other department staff
- Review and monitor systems for cybersecurity risks, including research and remediation.
- Cross-trains and provides back-up support on Network Administrator and telecommunications administration duties.
- Provides computer and network support to users relating to software and hardware problems.
- Review, monitor and manage network devices such as switches, firewalls and wireless devices.
- Provides systematic troubleshooting on advanced technical problems including situational awareness in regard to the impact on business activity.
- Installs new software applications or hardware on the local area network, coordinating assistance from management or outside third parties as needed.
- Adds and maintains users on the network. Assign application access, ensure security, and maintain system configuration within standards.
- Coordinates or execute approved programming and equipment changes. This may include moves, adds, and user changes.
- Provides written documentation on a monthly basis which defines upcoming needs of the network which would require purchase of additional hardware or software.
- Develops and maintain all documentation for the network and supporting systems including procedures, equipment lists, maintenance logs, user set-up, problem resolution, disaster recovery procedures, and system backup logs.
- Monitors and reports licenses on applications to ensure compliance on a monthly basis.
- Develops organized projects plans, coordinate closely with departments and vendors on process improvements and efficiency.
- Remains on call for emergencies and willing to work extended hours, if necessary, to meet deadlines.
What you will provide:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Systems or Network Administrator role.
- 2 or more years of experience working in a customer service focused environment.
- Must have the ability to self-manage and have strong organizational skills and follow through for timely customer response.
- Must be a team player and possess the ability to interact technically with CFS staff.
- Advanced knowledge of:
- Microsoft technologies, Active Directory, Exchange, O365, etc.
- Proficient in VMware ESXi
- Veeam Availability Suite or similar backup solutions
- Dell Compellent SAN or similar storage systems
- McAfee Endpoint Protection or similar enterprise endpoint protection suites.
- Able to travel locally on occasion to set up systems at designated BCP locations. May be required to travel to non-local areas on occasion.
- Availability to be on call for system issues to ensure systems are working properly.
Preferred:
- Experience with IT ticketing systems and direct end user support in an enterprise environment is desirable.
- Experience with firewall systems, VPNs, and vulnerability scanning systems is desirable.
- Desktop deployment and management systems helpful.
