JOB SUMMARY: The NASA SES III contract provides services to include the design, development, implementation, and integration of science data processing applications and technology; supports instrument, spacecraft, and mission development.

We are seeking a full time Linux Systems Administrator candidate who will be providing several aspects of both systems and networks including satellite health and safety monitoring, configuration automation, general end-user information technology, and teleconferencing support for the Mars Sample Return Capture Containment and Return system (CCRS) Project.

As a member CCRS team, the System Administrator will focus on operational aspects and use of administration of Agency CDM Tools (BigFix, Nessus, Splunk) and work with CCRS team leads including Avionics, Integration, and Testing, Flight Systems, and Ground Systems. This support also includes basic Apple end-user workstation support, software, peripherals, conference room equipment, and other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: All Work will be performed onsite at NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD. Location: NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.


PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Installs, configures, and maintains Linux operating systems (Ubuntu and RHEL)
  • Provide computer systems administration including networking, system baselining, system backup and recovery, patch management, and service monitoring.
  • Maintains customer-facing services such as Code scanning tools, Jira, Confluence and Gitlab
  • Ensures compliance with various NASA projects and program standards
  • Creates and maintains thorough documentation for installations, configurations, and troubleshooting


REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3 to 6 years of experience in Linux system administration.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in Network Administration.
  • Experience with BigFix, Nessus, and Splunk.
  • Ability to multi-task, adapt to change, and work in a cooperative environment.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Apple end-user support.
  • Experience working on other government contracts.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of AWS.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Familiarity with NASA GSFC systems administration, network, and security policies.
  • Familiarity with compliance requirements of NIST FIPS FISMA framework.


RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:
3-6 years of relevant experience.


EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information systems, Software Engineering, or other related disciplines.


SECURITY CLEARANCE:
Must be a US citizen with ability to pass a Government background investigation.
