The Opportunity:
The Supervisor Power OMC role provides leadership and support to the department managers and supervisors and ensures continuity of the operating assets, achieving department objectives, and facilitating sound business decisions. This role is responsible for the maintenance coordination required to maintain and ensure operating reliability as well as assisting in the cost control of the department’s maintenance and operations budget.
The Supervisor Power OMC is the link between the production and maintenance departments. This role is responsible for prioritizing work, managing backlogs, and planning/scheduling maintenance outages. The customers for this role include production and maintenance. Other special assignments on major shutdowns, problem solving projects, and capital projects are also a responsibility of the role.

How you will impact WestRock:
  • Accountable for an accident-free work environment by managing the department safety work order backlog and maintaining a zero quarterly backlog (within control). Coordinate scheduled shutdown and unscheduled outage lockout and tag out.
  • Deliver operational excellence by coordinating activities between production and maintenance by prioritizing daily work, planning, scheduled shutdowns, managing maintenance backlogs, and manage/reduce break in work to ensure downtime in area is fully utilized to optimize the maintenance work while the area/assets are down.
  • Responsible for improving area equipment reliability, craftsman efficiency, and minimizing costs.
  • Understands and enforces mill safety policies and procedures and ensures that all employees are aware of and adhere to safety policies and procedures and takes the lead in LOTO, safety, and audit items which need both production and maintenance follow-up.
  • Understands and enforces mill environmental policies, the state of Texas and Federal environmental laws and reports any environmental excursions as required.
  • Serving as project originator for maintenance capital in asset area, including documentation.
  • Being a technical resource for solving chronic and repeat failures with reliability engineer.
  • Planning the installation and startup of new equipment to minimize the upset of normal operations.
  • Provide leadership, development, and training and work with training resources to maintain detailed, structured on-the-job training manuals for department tasks and jobs.
  • Promotes the Daily Management System (DMS) with team members and highlights areas of concerns while adhering to the DMS duties and performance within the department

What you will need to succeed:
  • Engineering degree or equivalent operations or maintenance experience of a minimum of 8 years.
  • Fundamental understanding of mill processes affecting Paper Mill operations including base understanding of mechanical integrity of equipment and machinery.
  • Knowledge of maintenance management principles including but not limited to precision maintenance, preventative maintenance, root cause failure analysis, shutdown and contingency planning, and computer-based maintenance work systems; desire to work with maintenance as a team.
  • Must have strong analytical and diagnostic problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Familiar with statistical process control.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Work, Excel, Project, and SAP
  • Good oral and written communications skills, highly skilled in group communication as well as one to one communication. Ability to determine effective and appropriate means of communication.
