SUMMARY: Directs and coordinates activities concerned with production of company product(s) by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Confers with management personnel to establish production needs per schedule.
    • Supervises employees to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment. Conducts meetings as appropriate.
    • Is responsible for accurate reporting of crew attendance to superintendent.
    • Coordinates break and lunch periods for minimum disruption of production.
    • Responsible for contributing to the safety of products, ingredients and personnel.
  • Plans and directs activities and establishes production priorities for employees in their specific areas or lines.
  • Plans and directs activities and establishes production priorities for machinery and equipment in their specific areas or lines:
  • Verifies equipment is operating correctly; maintains documentation of same.
    • Documents ingredient loss; down time and other anomalies.
    • Monitors handling of special ingredient types such as Allergens, Kosher, Organic, etc.
  • Plans and coordinates activities and establishes production priorities in partnership with Superintendents, other production Supervisors, Maintenance personnel and QC Supervisors.
  • Ensures GMPs and safety rules are followed; maintains clean and organized environment.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Is responsible for the direction, coordination, and evaluation of a production crew. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; verifying timecards; appraising and providing performance feedback; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or Technical School preferred; High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum five years experience in supervisory roles; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Microsoft applications.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers. Ability to read, speak and write English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add and subtract in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals as they relate to time, weights and measures.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Have the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and REGISTRATIONS:

Certification on all equipment in their area of concern; LOTO Certification, and HACCP for CCP positions Certification.
