Norton Education Group is partnering with a not for profit overnight Jewish boys camp located in Middleboro, MA, and is seeking a Waterfont Director for the 2023 summer camp season!

Schedule: 9:30am-5pm. Three meals will be provided each day!

The summer camp season lasts from 6/25/2023 to 8/14/2023.

Pay Rate: $6,000 - $7,500 for the season

Job Summary: The objective of the Waterfront Director is to plan and carry out activities at the camp’s waterfront that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the camper’s age and abilities. The camp runs its waterfront program on Lake Tispaquin. The Waterfront Director should also provide management to the physical operation of the waterfront’s facilities and equipment as well as oversee staff, life guarding and program areas including Swimming, Fishing, Small Crafts.

Responsibilities:

1. Plan, direct, and supervise a safe and fun waterfront program

· Write (with the help of waterfront specialists) lesson plans that meet camp goals.

· Evaluate aquatics abilities of campers and staff.

· Deliver creative swim and watercraft program activities.

· Set up and ensure life guard duties/shifts.

· Establish, practice Emergency Action Plan

2. Train and supervise waterfront staff

· Assist in the planning and implementation of staff training.

· Train waterfront and counseling staff in their waterfront responsibilities.

· Supervise the waterfront staff evaluation process.

· Implement the scheduling of waterfront staff.

· Directly supervise other aquatic staff.

3. Manage the physical facilities and equipment in the waterfront program area

· Teach and supervise proper use of equipment.

· Conduct initial and end-of-season inventory, and store equipment for safety.

· Conduct a daily check of equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.

· Submit orders for equipment and supplies when needed, ensuring timely arrival of materials.

· Survey waterfront area daily, and keep the area free of hazards and debris.

Qualifications:

· Previous experience in camping preferred.

· Current certification in first aid and CPR.

· Prior experience in the development and delivery of recreational programs.

· Experience in supervising others especially peers is desirable.

· Certification or availability to obtain in LGT and WSI.

· Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.

Job Type: Temporary

Pay: $6,000.00 - $7,500.00 per year

  • Middleboro, MA: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

License/Certification:

  • First Aid Certification (Preferred)
  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
