Job description
Dream Day on Cape Cod is a non-profit organization based in Brewster, Massachusetts, dedicated to bringing respite into the lives of children with serious and/or life-threatening illnesses and their families. Camp is at no cost to families. Each summer we operate eight sessions of family camp – bringing families together for a week of fun, family, and respite. Our hope is that families have the chance to create loving, lasting memories that transcend illness and struggle.

As a Dream Day Camp Counselor, your Primary Responsibilities are:
Leads, teaches, demonstrates and officiates activities such as sports, games, arts and crafts, environmental education, fishing and other activities as needed
To be punctual and flexible at all times
Represent yourself and Dream Day on Cape Cod with a positive, energetic and professional approach
Deliver engaging, safe, and exciting activities
Ensure a fun, safe, and positive experience for all
Live on-site from June 18-August 18, 2023 (Housing and meals provided during working hours)
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 18 years of age
Experience in working with children
Experience in working with people with disabilities is ideal, but not required
Valid First Aid and CPR Certificates are a plus, but not required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Must be creative and energetic
Ability to be outside in all types of weather conditions for long periods of time (heat, humidity, rain, etc).
Ability to live with other staff members in a camp cabin environment
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Guide campers in participation of all activities, including but not limited to: archery, arts & crafts, fishing, boating, beach trips & more.
Adapting programs to include all campers.
Providing support and encouragement to campers.
Work as part of a team.
Assist in tidying up after activities.
Be familiar with the special needs, medical conditions, dietary concerns, and/or behavioral problems of the campers and act according to directions provided by the parent/guardian of the child
Ensure that safety standards are maintained at all times
Report any accidents/incidents to the Camp Director
