The
Substation Groundman is responsible for supporting various construction projects within the electrical substation department. Travel is required in a multi-state region.

Essential Functions
- Work safely while assisting in new construction and various tasks such as demolition, site preparation, excavating, backfilling, and landscaping, trenching, pole setting, cable labeling, and other substation related tasks such as construction clean-up

Assist with installing transformer and transformer banks, bus structures and switchgear, lines (underground/overhead), ground grid, control buildings, and other related substation material tasks

Will work with man baskets, skid steers, shovels, compactors, back hoes, and other industry equipment

Frequently work around energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect their own lives as well as others'

Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order

Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable
About You:
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Must have a Commercial Driver's License or the ability to obtain a CDL
- Completion of a Journeyman Lineman college program highly preferred but not mandatory
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to learn job specific procedures including identifying and using different types of materials used in line work, safety procedures, and installation procedures
- Must be able to handle various tools as well as ensure proper maintenance of tools
- Willing to work over-time and be able to work extended periods of time in various jobsite locations when required
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, or ability to learn
- Available for travel as project requires
- Must be team-oriented, self-motivated, and customer-oriented

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Must be able to work outside frequently in inclement weather, to include heat, cold, rain and snow
- Ability to lift more than 50 lbs., as well as work at slightly elevated heights (up to 24 ft, occasionally up to 80 ft) and/or confined spaces
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly Rate $19-$25
- Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
