We’re looking for an experienced communications specialist like you, who is ready to share your knowledge and willing to win for the client and live our mission every day. Here, you’ll use your consulting skills and experience to design, develop, produce, and consult on a variety of internal and external communication materials and media that supports a Department of Defense initiative to design and develop a network of experimentation people and data. As a communications specialist on our team, you’ll develop creative solutions to complex problems, designing and executing a deliberate approach to strategic communications and engagement that fosters an experimentation community of interest for the Department of Defense client.
Your self-guided yet collaborative spirit will shape and nurture relationships with team members, stakeholders, and clients to ensure information products for internal and external audiences are crafted as opportunities to strategically communicate the organization’s priorities, activities, and achievements. As the organizational advisor of all aspects of oral and written communications, you’ll oversee and author fact sheets, information papers, briefs, talking points, newsletters, pamphlets, web site content, articles, and email messages. You will assess the information landscape, organizational culture, and client equities in order to provide appropriate recommendations for development of strategic messaging. Formal and informal messages must be clear, timely, precise, professional, targeted, and coordinated. Your creative-thinking and business-oriented mindset will guide your client to inform key audiences through printed and digital words and images, and potentially sound, using tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, MS Teams, MS SharePoint, working closely with graphic designers, knowledge engineers, public affairs, and print technicians. You Have:
5+ years of experience providing strategic communications expertise, designing and implementing a communication strategy or campaign, and delivering communication products for a broad range of military and civilian audiences, including to senior leaders
Experience transforming data obtained from a variety of sources and formats into concise and visually appealing communications products, leveraging Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Ability to write, edit, proofread, and distribute content for electronic and print communication including documents, e-mails, briefings, and web content, free of grammatical or syntactical errors, properly marked for security, and aligned to organizational style guides and knowledge management best practices
Ability to apply strategic communications knowledge and best practices to ensure consistency, clarity, accuracy, and timeliness in messaging, processes, and products
Secret clearance
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in communications or Master’s degree and 3+ years of experience in communications
Nice If You Have:
3+ years of experience with working with U.S. Military or Department of Defense staff
Experience managing a virtual or distributed community of interest
Experience leveraging metrics and measured of effectiveness to improve engagement plans and communications products
Experience in coordinating communications through briefings, publications, e-mails, meetings, and other fora, both on premise and virtually
Ability to pay strict attention to details
Ability to build relationships across an organization and interface with all levels of government personnel
Possession of excellent organizational skills
Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
Top Secret Clearance

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $73,000.00 to $166,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. Work Model
