JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Accountant Lead is responsible for coordinating and performing various duties related to the completion of timely and accurate monthly financial statements for OneCare Vermont Accountable Care Organization, including work paper preparation for assigned financial areas. He/she will record or review transactions for designated (and more complex) sections of OneCare Vermont’s financial statements and will be responsible for having a working knowledge of all other areas. He/she will be assigned the first level review responsibility for all OneCare Vermont workpapers and financial statement. He/she will work with the other accountants, financial specialists, budget manager and various department leaders. A solid knowledge of GAAP and work paper preparation is critical as this position will include teaching, mentoring and providing support to the Senior and Staff Accountants. Additionally, the Accountant Lead will be primarily responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of other external reporting requirements, such as regulatory, contractual and tax. Other duties can include and/or project management for the Accounting Department and assistance with general financial management responsibilities.
EDUCATION:
BS/BA degree in Accounting preferred; Direct healthcare accounting experience with an Associate degree will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor degree. CPA and/or MBA candidates is a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
Seven or more years of relevant accounting experience. Public accounting or health care experience is required. Previous experience should include financial statement preparation, audit and analysis. Tax return preparation experience is required.
