Healthfirst is currently seeking a highly skilled and professional Senior Systems Engineer to contribute to the implementation of our workplace technology strategies. The successful candidate will possess a strong hands-on background in deploying and managing Active Directory and Azure AD, with a proven track record of automating large-scale maintenance tasks. A high degree of self-management, personal accountability, and a collaborative mindset are essential for this role.

In this position, you will be working with a variety of technologies to develop tools and automation processes, aimed at eliminating manual operations and establishing reliable, repeatable orchestration. Your contributions will support the ongoing development of end-user enablement platforms, including VDI solutions, O365 solutions, eDiscovery, and user-facing technologies utilized by Healthfirst personnel. Additionally, you will be responsible for the daily operational support of platform hosts and their services, in collaboration with infrastructure and operations engineers, to continuously enhance the platform.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the Enterprise Platform engineering team.
  • Design, implement, and manage employee-facing technology solutions, including Active Directory, Azure AD, Office 365, VDI, Citrix, email, and other collaboration tools, ensuring a seamless and efficient user experience.
  • Automate routine tasks and processes using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) and orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and develop innovative solutions that meet those needs while adhering to industry best practices.
  • Monitor and maintain system performance, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.
  • Proactively identify and resolve technical issues to minimize downtime and maintain a high level of user satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented systems, including architectural diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and best practices to improve efficiency, security, and reliability of employee-facing systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support, troubleshooting, and resolution of critical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, including data privacy and security.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Technical degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering, with a focus on employee-facing technologies.
  • Extensive experience with Active Directory, including a thorough understanding of GPOs, OU management and delegation, and automation via PowerShell.
  • Proficiency in scripting with PowerShell and Exchange Online Management Shell.
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools, such as Ansible, Terraform, and Packer.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document .implementations using MS Word, Excel, and Visio for presentations in PowerPoint or similar tools.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment and effectively collaborate across teams and organizations.
  • Aptitude for developing expertise in new technologies through a combination of experimentation and guided learning.
  • HS Diploma or GED from an accredited institution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth understanding of networking, security, and cloud technologies.
  • Strong understanding of managing endpoint devices with Endpoint Manager/Intune
  • Deep troubleshooting skills that involve analysis of logs, traffic trace, configuration data and automation tools to resolve complex issues.
  • Familiarity with email legal eDiscovery solutions.
  • Experience with system health monitoring and optimizing performance (OpsView, Splunk, Dynatrace)
  • Experience working in regulated and/or high-security environments and industries (PCI, HIPAA, HITRUST).

Hiring Range*:

  • Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $87,300 - $126,140

  • All Other Locations (within approved locations): $78,900 - $117,385

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.
