About the Role:
As the Sr. Manager - Strategic Procurement you will be responsible for evaluating our sourcing and supplier strategy across a variety of Opex and Capex categories for the entire business. This leader is responsible for developing a strategic sourcing roadmap based on prioritized opportunities, then executing that roadmap through negotiation of contracts and RFP processes with key suppliers including cost, terms of supply, and quality. The procurement categories in scope span across the business, with an initial focus on store supplies, store fixtures, and store services, with plans to broaden that scope to include entire ~$150M annual Grocery Outlet capital expenditure spend. This role is a unique opportunity to build the foundation of strategic sourcing at Grocery Outlet. This role will start as an individual contributor, with opportunity to grow small team over time. This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two to three days a week, generally Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office ~50% of the time based on business needs. Reports to the VP of Strategy and is a new role to Grocery Outlet.
Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and then implement short, medium, and long term strategic sourcing plans and category procurement strategies across the business
- Conduct savings analyses and modeling to prioritize procurement savings opportunities and build recommendations
- Lead RFP processes with key business owners from start to finish, identifying and vetting vendor partners, performing m arket research and benchmarking, and managing bidding
- Lead contract negotiation process and work with legal team to complete contract terms
- Develop recommendations and present to business leaders for decision making
- Effectively manage strategic procurement projects (both short and long term), managing clear work plans and timelines for project goals
- Perform ad hoc analysis and support for stakeholders across the company, becoming a key thought partner with the business
- Develop and refine over time Grocery Outlet’s and strategic sourcing vision, processes, and tools
About The Pay:
- Base Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000 Annually

About You:
- Bachelor’s degree. MBA preferred.
- 7-10 years of strategic sourcing or procurement experience. Multi-category sourcing experience preferred (including products and services). Experience in retail preferred.
- Action-oriented, self-starter with courage to lead change, and implement operational improvements.
- Strategic and structured thinker—ability to quickly understand spend drivers in a business, develop strategic frameworks, then leverage to prioritize opportunities
- Strong analytical capabilities—takes data driven approach to problems with an ability to quickly model financial impacts and identify opportunities. Strong Excel skills required.
- Collaborative worker—quickly builds trusted relationships with business partners
- Possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize, work independently and keep a high level of focus.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, especially in front of peers and executive audiences. Strong Powerpoint skills required
- Prior experience with SAP and Ariba a plus.
