Job Summary
The Sr. Information Security Engineer is responsible for assisting in the implementation, monitoring, and automating of cybersecurity policies and controls across the Mediant enterprise. This position coordinates directly with infrastructure and engineering teams to evaluate cyber risks, advise on best practices, and automate controls to prevent, identify, and remediate threats. The Sr. Information Security Engineer will act as a subject matter expert and or technical resource to other members of the Security Operations, Engineering, and IT Operations teams. Propose creative solutions to address gaps in security controls and be able to see them to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with DevOps and Engineering teams to design and build with privacy and security by design principles
• Acts as the Security Operations liaison in the change management process
• Serves as a senior technical resource for other members of the Security Operations team
• Proactively monitors logging and event collection systems to identify gaps and propose solutions
• Automation of threat analysis protocols across the enterprise
• Manage the identification and response of security incidents
• Execute and interpret vulnerability scans and or penetration tests
• Active Threat Hunting across the entire Enterprise
• Keeping abreast of the latest security issues and briefing senior staff of emerging threats

Education and Experience

• BS degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, or related field
• 5+ years’ experience in advanced cybersecurity engineering: application security, cloud security, data and network security
• CISSP, Security+, CCSP or other equivalent cyber security or cloud security certifications
• Experience with SIEM/SOAR solutions utilizing predictive ML/AI
• Experience threat modeling and creating data flow and process diagrams a plus
• Advanced networking and firewall administration with a focus on network segmentation
• IT, endpoint security, and DLP in a regulated environment, e.g., SOC, ISO 27001
• Malware and phishing incident response and remediation
• Experience with SIEM tools such as Splunk, USMAnywhere, etc.
• Experience with cloud native gateway tools like Cisco Umbrella and Mimecast
• Knowledge of AWS native security tools (WAF, shield, guard duty, security hub, Inspector)
• Experience interpreting vulnerability scan and or penetration test results and prioritizing remediation planning
• Office 365, Exchange DLP and Azure AD security administration and information protection
• Linux/Unix with system administration and task automation
• Development experience with Python, Bash, or equivalent
• Experience with IR or cyber security event management and containment
