PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Arborist/Horticulturist is responsible for tree and ornamental plant health throughout the property under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent and/or Assistant Superintendents. In addition, the Arborist/Horticulturist is responsible for performing routine golf course maintenance including semi‐skilled grounds construction and maintenance work, and operate all equipment used to maintain the golf course in accordance with luxury brand standards, and to execute on all directives given by the Golf Course

Superintendent. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Company policies, practices, and procedures.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prune, stake, remove, install, and replace trees, ornamental plants, and flowers as directed by supervisor to enhance appearance, and health. Waters all trees and ornamental plants, greens, tees, fairways, approaches and rough as instructed.

Responsible for reading, understanding, and remaining current with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and product labels associated with products used. Inspects and maintains all tools and equipment within OSHA safety, county, state, and federal guidelines. Complies with OSHA safety guidelines to ensure all work is completed in a safe manner.

Operates all equipment used in the process of caring for greens, tees, fairways, approaches, rough, bunkers, cart paths, and stream banks. Sets tee markers, cups, moves traffic control barricades, removes debris, and fills divots as instructed by supervisor. Operates chainsaw, chipper and stump grinder.

Applies any necessary liquid and/or granular fertilizers, soil amendments, and/or pesticides.

Checks equipment prior to use for proper fluid levels as instructed by Supervisor. Reports any problems with equipment to facility and equipment to Supervisor and/or mechanic immediately.

After use of equipment, cleans and returns all equipment to the designated location at maintenance facility.

Helps in any projection work that is being done on the golf course grounds; grade and prepares soil base, lays sod, and seeds any areas as instructed. Excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools.

Provides extraordinary service consistent with luxury brand standards and S.H.O.W. Service Basics. Operates in compliance with Company policies and procedures and local, state, and federal laws.

Perform other job‐related duties as requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
At least on (3) year experience in horticulture or landscaping.

PREFERRED:
Previous experience as an Arborist.

Previous experience working in a similar resort setting. Bilingual

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess or be able to obtain ISA certification.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools, and a variety of equipment.

Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.

Working knowledge of small equipment operations.

Ability to follow oral and written directions.

Ability to work varied shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
