GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Space Planning Specialist is responsible for creating the optimal product assortment for each merchandise product segment based on analysis of internal scan data and industry data obtained through 3rd party agreements, weighting segment, sub-category and category sales and margin, potential & historical results, store cluster space allocation and planogram layout, and designing planograms and floor plans that maximize sales and profits for each store segment in collaboration with the Category Managers and overall department initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop and refine planogram process and execution.
2. Develop and refine floorplan process and execution.
3. Analyze product assortment optimization process, execution and reporting.
4. Execute new product introductions and placement process.
5. Maintain store clusters, product traits, publishing planograms.
6. Establish and refine assortment evaluation standards (profit per sq. ft, merchandise trends).
7. Develop and refine assortment gap analysis based on market trends and potential by segment.
8. Calculate new product cannibalization forecast and model 'what if' analysis for high potential items.
9. Provide periodic seasonal adjustments (resets and pull-n-plugs) to assortment and space allocation based on customer behavior along with any other space planning changes dictated by business needs.
10. Ensure product assortment and space allocation maximizes product sales, margin and unit movement while meeting Category Management contractual agreements.
11. Collaborate with Category Managers on category planning, strategy, and tactics application.
12. Assist the Merchandise Project Management team on all resets, projects and optimization initiatives.
13. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Broad knowledge of such fields as space planning, merchandising, pricebook, marketing, accounting, business administration, etc. Equivalent to a four-year college degree, plus 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
