Scientific Products, an ATS Life Sciences Company is seeking individuals with a positive attitude who enjoy working in a fast-pace, challenging environment to join the Global Supply Chain Management team!
We are currently recruiting for a Sourcing Engineer, reporting to the Global Director of Supply Chain. The Sourcing Engineer will work with the divisional engineering, corporate supply chain teams, and other stakeholders to identify and implement initiatives to standardize, re-source and re-design commodities, systems and components to reduce material cost within ATS segments and divisions globally. This position requires hands on and experience in a fast-moving high mix manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Use accepted Value Engineering / Value Analysis methods and tools to evaluate cost, measure, and implement process and product improvements
- Analyze and prioritize the ideas for cost savings and product/process improvements
- Work with a multitude of cross-functional teams including Global Category Management, Sourcing, Marketing, Design Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to implement cost reduction and standardization initiatives for key projects
- Optimize components and product designs for performance, cost, standardization, and manufacturability while working in consultation with divisional Design Engineering
- Evaluate performance, and various cost drivers associated with materials, labor, and overhead information as required for each project
- Provide cost estimates for process and product improvements
- Benchmark alternate designs, providing cost estimates as required
- Challenge existing processes, systems, and procedures, while searching for more effective solutions
- Manage and track various ideas, project, and programs from identification to implementation
- Support divisional engineering and/or execute testing and validation of cost reduction initiatives
- Attend and support Global Category Managers when performing cost reduction workshops with ATS divisions and suppliers to generate cost reduction ideas and opportunities
- Support Global Category Managers in the preparation of presentations of business cases including ROI of cost reduction initiatives
Required Experience, Skills, & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field of study
- 4 – 7 Years of experience in ETO (engineering to Order) or repetitive manufacturing
- Direct experience with the application of Value Engineering/Analysis methodologies and tools is highly desired
- Experience in standardization of Assemblies, sub-assemblies and preferred components
- Experience developing business cases, ROI calculations, and developing and proposing studies to help foster effective, fact-based decision making
- Broad background and understanding of manufacturing technologies (Assembly, Machining, Fabrication, Welding, and Paint) and / or Electronic components
- Excellent communication – written and verbal
- Proficient in the used of 3D CAD. Experience with ERP software an asset
- Proficient in Windows Microsoft (Excel, PP, Word, etc.)
- High proficiency with basic computer use #spjobs1
