Evaluates technology needs and guides customer towards an existing solution or architects a new solution using best practices. Provides advisory support to customers of information technology tools. Helps gather information, usually as part of a larger team, from customer requests for submissions to the project intake process. Maintains active communication with users and with other involved in providing technology tools and services, and mentors other technology support staff. Works in conjunction with the ET Engineering Core in evaluation of technology for use by customers. Organizes and coordinates cross-functional teams to resolve a variety of technology issues for customers.

Essential Duties
- Performs the design, development, implementation, operation and maintenance of computer and business systems to meets user needs
- Uses applications software such as distributed network systems, database management systems, Web page development tools, desktop publishing tools, and presentation tools to develop custom products to meet user needs
- Advises customers on standard tools and combinations of tools that are available or can be purchased or developed to meet specific needs
- Resolves a wide variety of problems and confers with or escalates problems to vendors, contractors, or others in the university to assure that resolution is reached
- Coordinates with other information technology organizations including the central IT organization to ensure optimal use and efficiency of computer and related resources
- Develops and improves user systems procedures, and prepares systems documentation
- In the review of existing systems and processes, applies the techniques and principles of process and procedure reengineering in the design and development of new systems and process
- Where possible develops and recommends alternative solutions to existing systems and processes
- Mentors staff responsible for delivering various routine services
- Develops and delivers instructional training on the use of supported technology products and systems, and provides personalized instruction one-on-one to meet specialized needs
- Develops and prepares operational plans and reports on project status
- Establishes and maintains effective communications with customers, other technology specialists, and vendors about services
- Builds effective business relationships with all parties, and provides guidance for conflict resolution (whatever the cause) that exist amongst and between various organizations
- Applies proven management techniques in the development and recommendation of proposed systems and process solutions
- Collaborates and teams with others on a variety of technology and technology support projects

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field AND six (6) years experience providing information technology services, which includes one (1) year of project and/or lead experience; OR, Ten (10) years experience providing information technology services, which includes one (1) year of project and/or lead experience; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Certificate from recognized programs that indicate mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months of experience.

- Experience synthesizing customer needs and transforming them to functional project requirements
- Experience in using Cloud based platforms and services
- Experience with support in a Software as a Service Solution Environment
- Experience in architecture design for application implementations
- Experience working with Windows and/or Linux
- Experience with hands on customer support
- Experience working with Agile project methodologies
- Experience in organizing and coordinating cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated knowledge of network architectures
- Demonstrated knowledge of security best practices
- Demonstrated knowledge of application/environmental integrations
- Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles and methods
- Experience with or a strong understanding of the application of DevOps methodologies is a plus
- Evidence of professional certifications at a System Architect or higher level is a plus

- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing and walking;
- Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing up to 25 pounds
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflict
