The Opportunity: Social Service Support Specialist (SSSS)
We're looking for Social Service Support Specialists (SSSS) to join our team at our Lake Burien Site to help support and protect children, youth, and families in Region 4. Lake Burien is a 12-bed site to support King County youth who are experiencing placement instability. The Site is open and staffed 24/7 to support youth until a placement resource is identified. The Social Service Support Specialists at the Burien site provide youth supervision and care and are staffed 24/7. Under general supervision, this position provides professional-level social services to children awaiting placement with child safety as the most important priority, in support of DCYF. This position assists division Social Service Specialist 3’s in providing services to children and/or families by providing services such as managing supervised visits, transporting children to visits and appointments, assisting Social Service Specialist 3’s with the provision of and monitoring of services, gathering of records and documenting information in appropriate state computer systems.

Work Schedule: Various Shifts. We are hiring for Full-time and Part-time positions. May work Saturday and Sunday - all Shifts. Or Monday through Friday -all shifts. This site is staffed 24/7. Schedule to be determined by supervisor which may include a flexible schedule. A flexible schedule is required to respond to client needs and emergent situations. There will be some variation in work hours due to the need to meet with families at times that are convenient for them, complete face-to-face contact with children within required time frames, travel with clients as cases require, and attend training and meetings in other locations.

Some of what you will get to do:
  • Arrange and supervise family time visitation between parents and children awaiting placement, including transportation of children to and from visits.
  • Prepare and submit supervised visitation reports to social service specialist staff.
  • Assist Social Service Specialists in monitoring parental progress of case plans and/or changes in family functioning.
  • Provide transportation, child care assistance, or other household support on a time-limited/goal-oriented basis.
  • Follow up with contacting relatives for potential placement and relative interest/involvement with children in out-of-home placements.
  • Assist with preparing records, including summaries of support activities.
  • Provide documentation of case notes/information in Famlink database system.
What we are looking for (Required Qualifications):
A High School Diploma (or GED)
AND
One year of paid/unpaid experience in one of the following: caring for children, social care, supervised volunteer experience in youth/child-oriented organizations, counseling youth, education, or home visitations.

NOTE: Two years of social service education from an accredited post-high school program may substitute for experience.

NOTE: Possession of a valid driver’s license and valid automobile insurance is required.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree and one year of experience in one of the following: child care, social care, counseling youth, or home visitations.
  • Strong skills in verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Previous demonstrated experience using FamLink.
  • Previous demonstrated work experience preparing records.
