This 18 hour per week position works within the Office of Integrated Marketing and Communications. This position is an excellent fit for any student looking at a career in design, social media, or public relations. The student selected will get experience in every aspect of social media management, from cultivating images and raw content, to producing and managing content on social media platforms. This position will work primarily during the regular work day, but some evening/weekend assignments will be required.

Duties:
Generate ideas on social media content for the following platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Snapchat
Take responsibility for populating content on social media under the direction of the Social Media Manager / Communications Specialist
Produce digital content, including written and story / design content based on the social media calendar
Research story ideas and work independently to produce compelling social media content
Be a Social Ambassador for @UCentralMo social presence
Attend campus events when required to capture images and populate social content
Understand and communicate UCM social media strategy and policy
Provide insight and make recommendations for new content and processes geared towards current and incoming student trends
Capture photography for social media accounts and process images under the direction of the Graphic Design team
Education & Formal Training High school diploma or equivalent Computer Skills Word-Processing, Spreadsheet, Presentation Experience
Skills
Strong understanding of major social media platforms and their functions
Ability to demonstrate social media capability, best practices and strategy on social media platforms at the interview stage
Good writing skills and an understanding of generating copy for specific social media platforms
Basic photo editing/design skills (basic InDesign / Photoshop skills preferred) or ability to learn quickly
Strong eye for social media photography (basic DSLR camera experience preferred)
Outgoing personality and can-do attitude
Excellent personal judgement
