Summary:

The Early Head Start (EHS) Site Supervisor must exercise independent judgment in all functions of the job and is responsible for the day-to-day operation and administration of the program in accordance with Title 22 and the Head Start Performance Standards.

Reporting Requirements:

The HS/SPS Site Supervisor is directly supervised by the Child Development Manager.

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Status and Classification:

This is a full-time, exempt position, 12-month position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all classroom operations are in line with the KidZCommunity vision/mission/values.
  • Ensures all center staff operate from the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct
  • Ensures Head Start Performance Standards and Title 22 are followed.
  • Ensures the personnel policies and procedure are strictly followed by all center staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (continued):

  • Ensures the KidZCommunity health & safety policies & procedures are followed (ie timely health & safety daily checklist)
  • Operates based on KidZCommunity Operations Manual and Child Development Classroom Policies and Procedures
  • Understands and implements Equity Philosophies
  • Ensures all agency timelines are followed.
  • Ensures that the individualized plan addresses child interests, learning and development, temperament, language, cultural background, and learning style
  • Ensures the use the Three R's curriculum to fidelity: including parents in planning curriculum
  • Ensures that the recruitment plan, attendance policy & enrollment process are followed
  • Ensures the observation record keeping for DRDP Assessments are done correctly and timely
  • Ensures all ASQ and ASQ-SE are done and entered into the ChildPlus.net system
  • Ensures compliance with ratio and licensing guidelines based on Title 22
  • Ensures all interactions with children, families and staff are appropriate
  • Ensures all parent/teacher conferences are conducted and recorded in ChildPlus.net
  • Ensures all educational home visits are conducted and recorded in ChildPlus.net
  • Ensures all staff follow the PITC philosophy
  • Ensures child family focus meetings are conducted
  • Schedules site staff meetings and ensures full attendance
  • Engages parents in the classroom and at parent meetings
  • Ensures the requirements of CACFP are followed when food is prepared and served
  • Ensures all required data is entered into ChildPlus.net, including attendance, meal counts, ASQ/ASQ-SE, parent-teacher conferences, educational home visits and any other information relevant to the child and family
  • Ensures lesson plans are appropriate
  • Ensures curriculum enhancements are in place
  • Ensures the classroom/yard environment set up appropriately, including modifications for children with disabilities
  • Ensures all children’s files are complete and up to date
  • Ensures record-keeping and ongoing child assessments are updated
  • Ensures the school readiness goals are used for planning
  • Ensures the DS1 process is followed
  • Ensures transition plans are done timely
  • Uses positive guidance techniques
  • Ensures, along with the Family Advocate, parent delegates for Policy Council and all other advisory committees are secured
  • Uses common business software, including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Cultivates a culture of team cohesion while supervising staff

  • Manages staff & classroom schedules, supplies, site maintenance as well as does all required paperwork and remits weekly to the central office.

  • Facilitates ongoing connections to cluster sites and community services and promotes positive relationship-building.

Experience:

  • Classroom experience required for Site Supervisor permit.
  • One-year experience supervising adults.

Education and Continuing Education:

  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, or 60 college units including 24 ECE/CD with required core courses specified by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • Minimum six units specific to infants and toddlers.
  • Continued work toward a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Six (6) units Administration, plus two (2) units of Adult Supervision.
  • Preventative Health Training (i.e., HD 08).
  • Current 1st Aid and CPR certification
  • A Site Supervisor Permit must be, at minimum, applied for within 30 days of hire and maintained or upgraded throughout the course of employment.
  • PITC training
  • Additional training as required.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:

  • Physical Activity: Constant sitting. Frequent bending, twisting, and reaching. Occasional standing, walking, stooping crouching, crawling, carrying, or driving; Ability to lift 35 lbs.
  • Use of Senses: Ability to articulate a normal conversation with normal hearing whether verbal or over the telephone. Normal vision; corrected if necessary.
  • Environmental Conditions: The duties of this position are usually performed in a hazard-free indoor environment and occasionally outdoors in weather conditions. The noise level is moderate.
  • Atmospheric Conditions: No fumes, odors, dust, mildew, smoke, gasses or poor ventilation.

Other Requirements:

Department of Justice Fingerprint and child abuse index clearance.

  • Post-offer physical examination; TB clearance; proof of immunization or immunity to pertussis and measles; and annual flu vaccination or signed declination.

Valid Class C driver’s license, readily available and reliable transportation and minimum vehicle insurance as required by state law. Current Pediatric First Aid Certificate; current Infant/Child CPR Certificate.
