JOB SUMMARY
Ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the IBM AS/400, at the SYGMA Network Corporate office and Distribution Centers by maintaining, supporting, optimizing system performance, installing new programs and patches, design and implement Power9 disaster recovery and contingency planning, establishing network communications, providing 24-hour tier 3 support as needed; and assisting in architectural designs. Track fixed assets of equipment charged to Business Technology Corporate and Distribution Centers. Develop Power9 and Windows applications and scripts. The Senior Systems Engineer will apply exceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize IT systems investments. This individual will also mentor and provide guidance to the Systems Engineer staff.

JOB SUMMARY

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Order, install, convert, schedule jobs, monitor, and manage computer operations environments for SYGMA Corporate Office and Distribution Centers; maintain stable Power9 cloud architecture network; schedule daily job processing, back-ups, customer transmissions, maintain run schedules, coordinate with virtual data storage team. Maintain security on IBM Series i systems. Provide and test Power9 disaster recovery and high availability business continuity plans. Act as project manager and primary implementer for new system installations for new IBM OS/400 operating systems.
- Coordinate with technical teams on reviewing system utilization, monitor performance and recommend changes in hardware and software to ensure maximum system performance. Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions. Conduct research on software and systems products to justify recommendations to align with strategic business direction. Coordinate with technical teams in preventive maintenance for the Power9 platform. Provide support on printing solutions.
- Manage and complete special projects such as but not limited to menus for DCs and Central, disk cleanup. Work with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues. Develop applications and scripts, with Control Language, SQL, RUMBA or other tools and provide training and support of these applications, to automate data entry or otherwise reduce administrative effort, simplify, enhance, expedite or provide additional reliability the IBM Series i. Perform other duties as assigned
- Work with internal and external auditors to review and establish auditing controls for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
- Acquire and use specific knowledge of a variety of software products to include but not limited to: Robot software including Scheduler, Console, Alert, SpoolFlex, ReportFlex, and FormFlex products; Rumba scripting tools, Monarch Excel maker, DB/QUERY, QM QUERY, SQL, Control Language, RPG to provide actionable business data in the form of formal reports or data extracts. Develop queries or applications to extract data and deliver it to users in presentation-level format.
- Maintain system security, reliability, and stability: coordinate installation of IBM iSeries PTF's and application updates. Ensure proper supporting documentation of program release changes, and all distribution center systems have the current PTF-level plus current SYGMA program releases.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- College degree in a technical field required or equivalent professional experience.
Experience
- 10+ years of System Engineering experience
Demonstrated skills:
- Demonstrated leadership skills in peer group
- Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products
- Proven experience with systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practices
- Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
- Good project management skills
- Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required
- Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
- Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
- Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities
- Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Strong customer service orientation
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Knowledge of IBM Series i on Power9 (AS/400, i Series, etc.)
- Microsoft Office, SQL, or equivalent data query tools experience strongly preferred.
Working conditions:
- Local candidates to Dublin, OH area will follow a Hybrid schedule. In-office one day a week every other week.
- Out of state candidates work remote.
