The primary focus of this role is to support Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) as the Senior Specialist, Industrial Hygienist (IH), for the Manatí facility within the Department of Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety. As the Senior Specialist, you will actively support the company’s environmental, health, and safety efforts within the Manatí facility.
The individual in this role will be responsible for developing, planning, and executing EHS programs, policies, procedures, and training to ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant facility in accordance with company and regulatory requirements. This position plays a key role in aligning corporate and local policies and procedures and will foster a proactive and integrated EHS culture that promotes a positive, collaborative approach throughout all operations
Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Identify, manage, and assess risks related to industrial hygiene and safety. Ensures compliance with federal, and local industrial hygiene laws, regulations, codes, rules, and consensus guides.
Develop and implement industrial hygiene programs, policies, and procedures and update and improve existing ones.
Prepare and maintain industrial hygiene reports, records, monitoring, data and plans as required by regulation or company requirements.
Manage a wide range of communications and prepare/distribute EHS communications.
Develop, create, and manage site platforms, databases, and SharePoint for documentation of procedures, forms, SOPs, investigations, reporting, inspections, action items, communications, and other management system platforms and their outcomes in line with quality and EHS requirements.
Create and maintain a systemic process to ensure workflow timelines for EHS events and action plans are adhered to, including mechanisms for EHS performance and trend reports.
Manage the industrial hygiene training process for the site, including developing new and revised training, accurately assigning training based on guidelines, and supporting training records requests.
Proactively collaborates at the site and above-site levels.
Participates in EHS operational and tier discussions, EHS committees and teams, and EHS self-assessments, inspections, GEMBAs, and audits.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelors degree in industrial hygiene, ergonomics, industrial or chemical engineering or in sciences
Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of environmental experience in a manufacturing facility, including but not limited to hazardous waste, biological waste, wastewater, stormwater, SPCC, DOT hazardous material, compress gases, Lockout, emergency response, heights, forklift
Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams ).
Experience with learning systems database (e.g., Enablon, Success Factors, ComplianceWire, etc.) preferred.
Previous experience developing programs and plans related to federal and local EHS regulations.
Prioritizes work and thinks independently, analyzes, and solves complex problems with excellent judgment, quality, and detail in an urgent manner.
Strong decision-making capability to guide assigned projects to successful conclusions.
Experience handling confidential information and sensitive issues to ensure integrity and confidentiality.
Bilingual (Spanish and English)
Working Conditions
Typical daily activities are within the office environment.
The Senior Specialist, EHS will work within the manufacturing facilities and outdoors. On Call 24/7 to respond to business needs or emergencies
Travel required: Infrequent, travel for trainings or support a site.
