As Gannett Fleming continues to expand our client and project portfolio in the West Region, we are excited to identify an experienced Senior Resident Engineer to manage and provide oversight of contractor operations for medium to large scale Transportation and/or Transit related projects throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
Responsilities:
- Functions as an on-site Senior Resident Engineer, with a primary focus on transit and/or rail projects for the construction services business line in the greater Bay Area.
- Manages, supervises, and coordinates assigned construction and construction management contracts
- Reviews and provides comments related to constructability of construction documents.
- Oversee and prepares responses for Contractor correspondence, submittals, requests for information, and field clarifications; verifies quality control, including issuance of non-conformance reports, to ensure compliance and accountability with the Contract Documents and all current and applicable local, provincial, and federal codes, laws, rules and regulations, and Agency Quality Management System policies and procedures.
- Monitor and review contractor’s CPM Baseline Schedule and monthly progress schedules, track actual start and finish dates for construction project activities and provides suggestions on how to expedite work to meet schedule requirements.
- Investigates and monitors schedule delays and reasons for delays.
- Works with client and project staff to review pay applications, change orders, and provisional sum allocations for entitlement, completeness, accuracy, and adherence to contract requirements.
- Provides project status and reporting on a weekly basis.
- Oversee inspection of work
- Assists in the administration and implementation of projects related to contracts and project phases such as permitting, procurement, construction, and closeout.
- Assists in annual budget development and participates in the forecast of project funds
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or closely related field
- Experienced in contract / agreement negotiation and administration of construction and engineering services contracts, and third-party agreements.
- 10+ years construction management experience that includes field construction, contract administration, estimating, negotiations, and rail project management.
- Demonstrated experience leading construction management function as a Resident Engineer (RE) on a Transportation project and/or an operating freight rail, transit or commuter line project is REQUIRED.
- Professional Engineer License (PE) in California for Transportation projects and preferred but not required for Transit or rail projects.
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred but not required.
- Experience with Caltrans highway/bridge construction and maintenance projects is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of pertinent federal and local laws, codes, and regulations as they apply to rail and transit operations.
