The MU Institute of Public Policy in the Truman School of Government and Public Affairs is recruiting for a Senior Research Analyst.

Organizational Support

  • Monitor and identify grants and contracts of relevance to the Institute.
  • Assist with developing/writing grant proposals and contracts.
  • Represent the Institute at public and professional meetings.
  • Participate in continuing Institute planning, management and evaluation activities, and contribute to enhancing the Institute’s team performance and impact.
  • Lead and/or assist with training new research staff members.

Project Management

  • Be familiar with full range of active IPP grants and contracts.
  • Serve as the Principal Investigator, project manager, or other role on grants obtained by IPP.
  • Provide project management including guidance and supervision of IPP research staff and/or graduate research assistants for the Institute’s research agenda, contracts and grants.
  • Ensure that project timelines are met and quality services and products delivered.
  • Provide supervision and/or support to other IPP projects as assigned.

Research Activities Support

  • Work with IPP staff and funders to refine and implement grant-funded research.
  • Develop research designs and implement specific research approaches for IPP projects.
  • Provide supervision for collecting, managing and analyzing primary and secondary datasets.
  • Conduct multivariate quantitative analyses using statistical software applications, and/or supervise such analyses as appropriate for inclusion in research manuscripts.
  • Conduct and/or supervise the conduct of qualitative analyses, including focus groups, interviews and literature reviews.
  • Design evaluation and implementation plans for grant-funded evaluation research including but not limited to surveys, evaluation forms, and interview protocols.
  • Pursue research training and professional development opportunities to enhance individual and team performance.

Scholarship and Engagement

  • Author and/or co-author fact sheets, issue briefs, data digests, and other materials as assigned.
  • Edit reports for distribution and web publication.
  • Assist with all aspects of preparing research articles for publication review (literature reviews, data tables and figures, formatting reference lists, etc).

Qualifications

Minimum Requirement: A Master’s or PhD in public affairs, economics, sociology, political science, public health or a related field and at least three years of prior experience in state or local government, policy analysis, or research project management is required.

Candidates will be evalauted on: written and verbal communication skills, analytic skills, famililiarity with Microsoft Office, multivariate statistical analyses and data presentation, and organizational skills and the ability to lead teams and to work independently.
