The Challenge
We are looking for a senior public involvement officer to join our Environmental Analysis team in our Raleigh headquarters. This team supports the development of sustainable transportation infrastructure minimizing impacts on the human and natural environments. You will have the opportunity to lead in the Public Involvement, Community Studies & Visualization (PICSViz) Group's work.

In this role you will:

• Hold public hearings and provide public outreach resources and assistance to the Project Management team, Design-Build team, Turnpike Authority, Rail Division, our 14 Highway Divisions, and other NCDOT units.
• Assist and advise NCDOT teams in their accumulation and use of public input in the development, design and construction of projects.
• Plan and conduct public outreach for legislative actions requiring procedural changes by NCDOT.
• Prepare and review handouts, newsletters, display boards, and slideshows to be presented to the public.
• Develop and maintain the ability to describe project maps and to explain project needs, history, design, and right of way details to the public affected by projects.

What You Bring

• Experience with public engagement techniques, methods, theories and Federal/State requirements for the environmental process.
• Experience with public outreach/public involvement.
• Knowledge of environmental planning techniques, methods, theories and Federal and State requirements for the environmental process.
• Clear knowledge of the NEPA and SEPA process.
• Experience verbally communicating technical information to large groups.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, and
• 4+ years of relevant experience; or
• An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Note

We may require registration as a professional engineer with the NC Board of Examiners & Surveyors.

Pay: $64,270.00 - $112,472.00 per year
