RWE Renewables is looking for a Senior Manager Tax Planning to lead U.S. tax planning projects. This position will report to the Head of Tax of the Americas. This person will serve as the leader for tax planning on joint venture (“tax equity”) investments and similar transactions. The role will also coordinate tax planning for development projects seeking board approval and transitioning projects from development to construction and operational phases. The business is expected to grow substantially in coming years and this position will be able to significantly add value to our growing portfolio of renewable energy projects.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance on the tax implications of complex joint venture partnerships to various internal stakeholders
- Lead tax advisors on significant tax oriented transactions
- Partner with Structured Finance and Investment and Valuation teams on detailed and complex modelling efforts to optimize projects and solve for constraints
- Supervise internal and external experts’ inputs to long term project projections
- Assist US tax compliance and reporting as projects are transitioned post-transaction
- Actively work with federal and state regulatory affairs teams on potential legislative to determine the impacts to the business
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or similar field of study (required)
- 8 + years’ experience in tax with experience with complex partnerships and/or tax credit investments
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) (required)
- Working knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP (required)
- Experience in corporate and partnership income tax (required)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Mergers and Acquistions (M&A) (preferred)
- Master’s in Taxation or JD/LLM (preferred)
- CPA (preferred)
- Exposure to non-income taxes a plus.
