Role Overview
This position is responsible for the management of all events around medical education and training at our EMEA Innovation Center in Munich. The events will allow new or existing customers to learn more about or latest innovations when it comes to e.g. Robotic Assisted Surgery, Digital OR or Digital Health. Our guests will mostly be surgeons, doctors and healthcare professionals and we want to make sure they are having an exceptional experience at our Innovation Center. The Senior Manager for Medical Education & Lab Operations will be responsible for leading the Procedural Training Specialist and managing the logistics sustainability of Medical Education courses organized in the EMEA region. Furthermore the responsibilities include overseeing operational aspects of the cadaveric lab (e.g. processes related to procurement of cadaveric tissue) or capital and consumable inventory management. This role will be heavily engaged with Medical Education, Commercial, R&D and HSE.
Responsibilities:
  • In close alignment with Global Medical Education Operations leadership ensuring best-in-class customer experience
  • Responsible for all aspects of Bioskills lab training sessions (including organization and execution of specific activities; demonstration of advanced arthroscopic and orthopaedic techniques; product training on Smith & Nephew capital equipment, instruments and implants)
  • Responsible for budget and overseeing all activities associated with lab maintenance including facility upkeep, equipment upkeep (including yearly CER), maintaining supplies, specimen care, waste disposal and maintaining all HSE requirements
  • Managing the Procedural Training Specialists
  • Responsible for aligning Medical Education event execution processes to ensure that we provide a state-of-the-art learning experience for our visiting customers (e.g. when it comes to invites, registration, reporting or compliance)
  • Work closely with Regional/Cluster Medical Education, Regional Marketing, Sales Training and global counterparts to facilitate customer-focused training in conjunction with Customer Education Visits, Medical Education courses and R&D activities.
  • Carry out any reasonable requests and perform other duties as may be required within the scope of the job title and to work safely at all times with due regard for health, safety and environmental protection.
Requirements:
  • Education: University degree (Bachelor or Master) in e.g. Engineering or a STEM subject or professional training with extensive relevant experience
  • Min. 3 years experience with working with HCPs in the orthopedic surgical setting or other clinical /laboratory setting or equivalent experience conducting medical based research
  • Experience with preparing and/or handling cadaveric material, working with 3rd party suppliers and universal precautions
  • Strong competencies when it comes to service orientation, customer experience and people management
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal office hours if necessary (e.g. Saturdays or evening)
  • Travel Requirements: 10%
  • Proficient German and English language knowledge (written and spoken), any additional language is a plus (e.g. French, Spanish)
