We are currently searching for an experienced professional to join our team as a:
Senior Manager, Clinical Development Operations (CDO) Contracting
- Draft, negotiate and manage a variety of contracts supporting Marinus research and development efforts with a focus on business terms for engagement of vendors for clinical operations and commercial services while working with legal on the contracting process.
- Develop collaborative working relationships within Marinus to understand their clinical/research/commercial efforts, needs and priorities to meet corporate goals.
- Manage a high volume of statements of work, task orders, and work orders and similar agreements to support scientific, clinical, and operational needs of Marinus,
- . Negotiate statements of work, work orders and task orders that specifically identify the deliverables to meet the business needs on competitive payment terms designed to assure adequate services are delivered timely.
- Manage finalized contracts with vendors to assure the compliance with the contracts and that the business is timely receiving services that have been contracted. Serve as primary point of contact for business stakeholders for their contracts.
- Understanding of finance, budget, and procurement processes.
- Ability to create and improve upon existing contract terms of engagement that focus on detailed description of the work to be performed, the budget for the work to be performed and the ability to track and assure that contracted services are delivered timely and that payment terms match services delivered.
- Ability to work with the legal department on developing robust templates for statements of work, work orders and task order and ability to work with the Marinus contract management system.
- Work closely with the broader team to promote and advance all processes among the CDO team at Marinus.
- Ability to identify issues/concerns with service providers and course correct to avoid potential disputes.
- Provides recommendations and alternative resolutions to contract service negotiations to internal and external clients.
- Contributes to or may lead change initiatives within the department including creation and participation in the preparation and finalization of company SOPsand work with legal on contract related processes.
- Creates and delivers training material to team members for best practices in contracting for services to be delivered, matching payment terms to delivery of services that meet the Company’s needs identify deliverables and other related topics.
- Manages, provides training and mentoring to CDO team including direct reports.
- Identifies and monitors program clinical trial vendor contract risks; proactively suggests and implements mitigation strategies to meet the business needs.
- Performs job duties with minimal supervision and has a sound critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
- Ability to drive continuous improvements in the process of contracting for services such that knowledge gained through experience is consistently applied going forward.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, abilities and prior experience required.
- BS/BA in business or science required with a minimum of 6-8 years’ experience including prior experience negotiating research contracts in a biotech/pharma company.
- Demonstrable knowledge of current contracting as well as legal and regulatory environment as it relates to the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
- Knowledge of the drug development process with a passion for drug development in a fast-paced setting.
- Experience managing direct/indirect reports is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented mindset with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing to multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent analytical and decision-based thinking.
- Approximately 20% travel may be required based on business need.
Compensation Range and Benefits:
- For this role, the anticipated base salary range: $150,000 to $175,000, based on the candidate's professional experience level. The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to skills, education, and experience.
