Senior GIS Analyst

Astor & Sanders Corporation (Astor) is an award-winning IT solutions provider headquartered in McLean, VA and is seeking a Senior GIS Analyst. This is a full-time benefitted hybrid position based in the Falls Church, VA area.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Analyze, identify, finalize and document requirements based on and analysis of newly identified business requirements.
• Develop GIS maps and data layers
• Develop Technical Specification Document(s) for the new mapping interface
• Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for the new mapping interfaces
• Create Testing Scripts
• Monitor user testing and collection of feedback
• Follow all agency guidance and procedures with respect to System Security Plans, security regulations, archiving and data management procedures.
• Manage GIS data and metadata for quality control, and develop and comply with standards
• Additional duties as assigned

Skills & Experience:

• 5-7 years of GIS development experience using Esri?s ArcGIS (ArcGIS Desktop or ArcPro suite) and R
• Experience with ArcGIS Online data management and mapping
• Understanding of concise metadata writing and effective workflow reproducibility
• Knowledge and experience with PostgreSQL and PostGIS
• Knowledge of R or R Shiny
• Big Data and Data Modeling experience
• Experience with spacial data management and manipulation
• Bachelor's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Environmental Conservation, Ecology or a related field
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
• Strong written and oral communication skills are required
• Must have a positive team player attitude
• Good analytical skills and a creative self-starter with the ability to work effectively with multiple partners
• Excellent time management skills to coordinate many different types of diverse activities
• Must be organized and detail-oriented
• Ability to interact with all levels of an organization in a professional, diplomatic, and tactful manner
• Biological training or experience preferred
