Position Responsibilities

  • Define the system safety plan, safety case, applicable industry guidelines and conduct safety reviews for autonomous systems.
  • Lead the development of system and/or software FuSA work products to support the identified safety case.
  • Guide the cross-functional development teams towards the successful implementation of ISO 26262, ISO 21448, UL 4600, and other standards where applicable.
  • Work with Systems Engineering, Software Engineering and other SMEs to identify ISO 26262 compliant procedures and the corresponding work products.
  • Engage with Safety Engineering SMEs and Consultants and lead safety artifact reviews with the cross functional team.
  • Manage safety requirements (functional and technical) supporting the functional safety concept and the technical safety concept and define verification and validation activities at the respective system/software level.
  • Lead development of safety analysis including HARA, FHA, FTA, FMEA, and other types as needed.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering to establish and validate safety architecture and item definition boundaries.
  • Collaborate on FuSA with HW and SW development teams, suppliers, consultants, and other stakeholders.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • A minimum of 5+ years of work experience as a FuSa engineer or related role in the automotive industry
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ISO 26262, ISO 21448, UL 4600 and/or MILSTD882E.
  • Demonstrated experience with systems and software development processes.
  • Demonstrated experience with model-based engineering and application of requirements management in MBSE platforms.
  • Experience with autonomous systems, embedded systems, and robotics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related area and 7+ years of experience or master’s degree with 5+ year of experience
