GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Senior Development Project Manager is responsible for leading a team of project managers and developers to support the development of wind, solar, and battery storage projects from the project identification stage through the start of construction and financial closing. This position will focus on renewable energy projects in Indiana and Illinois, with the possibility of working on projects in Kentucky, Michigan, and other states in EDPR's Eastern Region portfolio. The Eastern Region currently has 1.1 GW of contracted projects under construction and another 1.5 GW starting construction in 2023 or 2024. The Senior Project Manager will build relationships with high-level stakeholders at the local, county, and state level and be responsible for managing complex development tasks. They are a coach and mentor who makes strategic decisions critical to the delivery of utility scale solar, wind, and battery storage projects.
Main Accountabilities:
- Directly manage and mentor a team of 3 to 5 project managers and developers
- Obtain land rights to design, permit, construct, operate, and maintain wind, solar, and battery storage projects
- Lead local, state, and federal permitting of wind farms, solar parks, and battery storage facilities
- Negotiate and establish local agreements for road use, taxes, and decommissioning
- Identify and evaluate prospective projects with suitable wind/solar resources, electric transmission access, and other attractive site characteristics
- Establish and manage relationships with stakeholders including elected officials, regulators, utilities, transmission organizations, landowners, and community leaders to support project development
- Oversee the preparation of off-take proposals that are submitted to utilities and commercial and industrial customers
- Participate in policy analysis and outreach efforts to government officials regarding renewable energy industry issues
- Monitor Generation Interconnection studies performed by transmission providers and third parties and participate in interconnection agreement negotiations
- Support the financial analysis and modeling of a portfolio of projects
- Develop project budgets and manage project level expenditures
- Coordinate and collaborate with other internal departments, such as the Legal, Engineering, Construction, Finance, Investment Analysis, and Energy Assessment teams
- Provide project and industry reports to management
- Research the energy market and competition on an ongoing basis
- Communicate information continuously and effectively to cross-functional team
- Additional duties as required

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Energy, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field
- 6+ years of progressively responsible project management experience in the energy industry including successful development through construction and financial closing of one or more renewable energy projects
- Must hold a valid driver's license
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software; some knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS software preferred
- Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise (Preferred)

- Strong interest in environmental issues and renewable energy
- Ability to travel extensively domestically and internationally, by plane and by car and with short notice
