Job Summary:
Performs cost and inventory accounting for Cordova paper mill, Natchez pulp mill, Blue Ridge Molding, and the Maiden, Memphis, Natchez, and Las Vegas converting locations. Ensures that costing is done in a consistent manner across all facilities and oversees and reviews transaction detail to be sure that the company’s financial statements are free of material errors and provide accurate insight to Marcal’s overall gross profit margin performance.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures that all bill of materials reflect accurate, location-specific raw materials costs and quantities. Reviews the size and frequency of physical inventory adjustments and works with plant management to analyze and implement bill of material changes that may be necessary as a result. Keeps track of items requiring manual costing adjustments as required by sales management and ensures that all adjustments are made according to instructions received.
- Manage all BOM’s for accuracy and improve use of Syspro relative to the development and maintenance of each item’s standard cost. Completes all product cost estimates for new products as directed by senior management.
- Supports Manufacturing Operations and Sales Management including the timely and accurate preparation of daily and monthly management reports, statistical analysis of key performance indicators reflecting inventory balances and turnover, product margins, cost of sales, and operating expenses. Compiles and distributes monthly budget to actual comparisons for all plant locations and specific general ledger accounts.
- Assists each plant’s administrative personnel on Syspro functions, specifically including purchase order entry, purchase order receipts, production entry, inventory adjustments, and supply chain transfers.
- Assists the Controller in the preparation of the annual budget and new facility expense forecasts.
- Assists on billing and inventory receipt issues that arise in all Marcal locations.
- Reviews monthly sales order detail to identify invoicing errors, including shipments that have not been invoiced or invoices that post to the incorrect period. Also researches and analyzes specific G/L account questions raised by the Controller during the month-end close.
- Ensures that proper procedures are followed for the company’s recycling program – receipts, transfers, purchases, credits, etc.
- Reviews and analyzes all Purchase Price and Manufacturing Overhead variances.
- Participates in the planning, execution and analysis of physical inventories and cycle counts.
- Assist with special projects as required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in accounting
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in cost accounting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skillset required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to understand unique manufacturing environments and map the appropriate product costing method to each unique process.
- Detail oriented good organizational and computer skills.
- Self-motivated, good work ethic.
Physical Requirements:
The position requires the following:
- Large amount of time in an office environment
- Some travel required.
- Able to maneuver around the different facilities/work environments.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
