The Lead Evaluation and Cellular Pharmacology team is a part of the Discovery Technologies and Molecular Pharmacology (DTMP) organization, a critical group in the larger Discovery Sciences organization in Janssen R&D. We are committed to the delivery of high-quality chemical leads and clinical compounds in all five Janssen Therapeutic Area discovery teams. This position requires deep scientific expertise in multiple fields including cellular pharmacology, assay development, and compound profiling with an ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners.
In This Important Role, You Will:
- Learn and apply pioneering drug discovery approaches in a multidisciplinary team
- Develop, troubleshoot, and validate functional cell-based and cell-free assays
- Profile compounds to enable medicinal chemistry SAR studies
- Collaborate across multiple therapeutic teams and functional areas
- Analyze data and present results at program team meetings
- Attend and present data at internal meetings and external scientific conferences
Qualifications
Education:
- M.S. in cell biology, biochemistry, or related field with a minimum of 6 years of experience, or B.S. in cell biology, biochemistry, or related field with a minimum of 9 years of experience is required
Required:
- Expertise validating and implementing innovative cell-based assays is required.
- Extensive experience with mammalian cell culture is required.
- Expertise with HTRF, FLIPR, and other luminescence or fluorescence-based assays in HTS format (384 or 1536 well) is preferred.
- Proficiency with standard scientific software used for data analysis (e.g. GraphPad Prism, Genedata Screener, Perkin Elmer Signals, and Spotfire) is preferred.
- Excellent written/verbal communication and oral presentation skills is preferred.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-advancing environment is preferred.
Preferred:
- Hands-on experience with stable cell line creation
- Expertise with laboratory automation and high-throughput screening
- Solid understanding in immunology, cardiovascular, infectious diseases, neuroscience and/or oncology therapeutic areas
The anticipated pay range for this role is $84,000-$135,700.
