Axle
is seeking a highly ambitious, adaptable, structured, and detail oriented Scientist (Vaccine and Therapeutics) to join our vibrant team at Bethesda, MD.


Responsibilities

  • Design experiments to achieve project goals under the guidance of senior lab staff by drawing on experience with molecular biology and virology techniques including infection, neutralization assay, infectivity assay, RNA isolation, and organizing sequencing data; replication competent Vesicular Stomatitis Virus derived vectors; ECL-based immunoassay (e.g. MSD platform), Luminex platform western blotting; immunoassay development.
  • Write and manage biological safety documents/registrations in compliance with NIH guidelines and safe policy.
  • Perform project management such as experimental planning, budgeting for material spending, tracking deliverables, and interacting with vendors.
  • Perform lab management including lab equipment management and maintenance.
  • Work on diverse projects with an ability to prioritize as appropriate based on guidance from senior staff.
  • Maintain laboratory records including written lab notebooks and well-organized online data files.
  • Analyze data, summarize, and generate presentations in an appropriate format. Present PowerPoint summaries of project data in group laboratory meetings.
  • Contribute to laboratory maintenance and organization including sample inventories and data files.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and calibrating various laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Assist in evaluating the validity of laboratory data; assess deviations in the experimental workflow in accordance with established protocols, previous training, or accepted laboratory practices.
  • Assist in training others in basic laboratory and departmental procedures.
  • Work with scientists, reagent and media suppliers, equipment sales representatives, instrument repairers, etc.
  • Maintain compliance with current institute laboratory and safety guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Molecular Biology or a related field.
  • 1 year of experience reflecting demonstrable ability in the skill set described above.

Salary
  • $70,000- $95,000/yr.
